Nvidia Geforce Gtx 1660 Review
The heatsink uses a copper base plate that comes into direct contact with the GPU core for cooling. The VRM looks to be a 3+2 flavor with room on the board for additional phases. EVGA likely sources the board from another card a bit higher up the stack. The interesting part here is that the VRMs are not cooled by any contact with the heatsink, but only by airflow from the fans.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the new cards do tip up once they get a full launch in November, because AMD is going to have to make them either much cheaper than the GTX 1660 Super, or else definitively outperform it. As far as overclocking goes, the 1660 Super behaved exactly like every Pascal and Turing card before it; running up to about 2GHz before simply refusing to go any higher. That’s a pretty decent overclock, and the card is about 100Mhz beyond what it did on its own using Nvidia’s GPU Boost technology.
It includes 6GB of fast GDDR6 dedicated graphics memory, and support for up to four displays. Before we get into the benchmarks, here’s gtx 1080 8gb a quick recap of the $200 – $300 price segment this year. Way back in February we got the first GTX 1660 series GPU, the $280 Ti model.
