It has a three-stage cleaning system that loosens, lifts and suctions dirt, dust and hair from hard floors and carpet, according to the brand. It also has an Edge Sweeping Brush that is specially designed to sweep debris away from edges and corners. As for cleaning, we’ve found over and over again that basic Eufy bots are capable of picking up all the most common types of debris off bare floors and low-pile rugs. It’s actually kind of surprising how effective they are, since the advertised suction is so modest, and the single brush roll is small.
The Roomba j7 is an AI-powered robot vacuum that detects and avoids common robot traps, such as cords, cables, and pet waste. It works with a stylish clean base that irobot vacuum cleaner will clean the dirt out of its bin so you don’t have to. The bots might even (semi-randomly) miss a patch of floor or even an entire room in any given session.
The Roomba j7 adds to the i3’s functionality by using a camera to map your house, allowing you to tell it to clean a specific room or even a specific area of a room (like “under the couch”) as needed. Like the i3, there’s an elevated plus version that comes equipped with a self-emptying dock. Everyone’s needs are different, which means a robovac is not a one-size-fits-all.
Once you know what you’re looking for, this should help scale down the options and prevent you from overspending. If you don’t keep on top of cleaning your robot vacuum, it will inevitably affect its performance. Once the bin is full, it won’t be able to pick up anymore debris and will become counterproductive, dragging the dirt around instead. However, when we put it to the test, there were areas for improvement — specifically the mapping experience when dividing up rooms, and the controls of the mopping function.

Available as a vacuum G20 or vacuum / mop G20 Hybrid, Eufy’s G20 robot vacuum is a sleek and silent bot that does very well in small spaces, while the mop version is a good option for hardwood floors. The Roomba j7 is a mapping robot that can learn your home’s floor plan and identify the furniture and appliances in it. This lets you ask the robot (using the app or a voice assistant) to clean specific areas, such as in front of the fridge or behind the couch. IRobot is a manufacturer specializing almost exclusively in robot vacuums and mops. However, their reliance on optical sensors means they’re generally slower to map out their coverage area compared to alternatives with LIDAR.
We dismantled an older Eufy RoboVac 30 and found that doing major repairs was impossible without breaking parts of the robot. The Roomba 694, on the other hand, was easy for us to strip down and then reassemble with just a screwdriver.
