Place the potatoes in a large bowl and toss with the avocado oil, garlic powder, rosemary, salt, and pepper. This will be either low or medium-low, depending on the model and the conditions where you are.

Blackstone also sells combination grills, which have air fryers or side burners. While most of Blackstone’s griddles have at least a few additional features, the company equips its higher-end grills with more extras than its lower-end models.

Pour on some water, turn the burners to medium heat and scrape off the water along with the collected residue. When the griddle dries, pour on a tablespoon of oil, spread it around and let the griddle cool. Let the griddle cool slightly after the final smoking, then apply a final coat of oil or conditioner. This prevents the metal surface from rusting, so you don’t want to smoke it off.

Some others are countertop models without shelves, legs or storage. I saw tons of TikToks in which people caramelized onions on the griddle, so I decided to cook those as a topping for the burgers. Because caramelization takes a long time, I laid the onions in a single layer over a third of the griddle and covered them with the attached lid. The huge size of this griddle easily allows for full meal preparation and cooking, making the 2-zone method a doddle.

After falling in love with my 22″ tabletop Blackstone Griddle I reached out to the company and asked them to jump on board as a sponsor of the RVFTA Podcast Network. We only work with companies that we love and trust, and Blackstone fit the bill in a major way. This griddle was fast becoming like my fourth child, needing constant love and attention. The heat (created by two burners on the 22″) distributed so evenly that I was no longer serving pancakes that were burnt on one half, and undercooked on the other.

Since budgets for a flat-top griddle can vary, we assembled affordably priced Blackstone griddles as well as top-of-the-line models that are loaded with convenient features. All of the griddles we selected have burners capable of providing the output needed to reach high cooking temperatures and evenly heat the cooking surface. Blackstone griddles offer a wider, flat cooking surface compared to gas grills, making them more suitable for cooking for a crowd. With a griddle, it is possible to cook foods such as pancakes, rice, eggs, and stir-fry dishes that wouldn’t be possible on a standard gas grill. Mexican dishes, fajitas, and a traditional breakfast with bacon, eggs, ham, and potatoes can also be easily prepared on a Blackstone griddle. However, gas grills are still popular for allowing grease and water to escape, preventing them from pooling up on the cooking surface.

A 28-inch griddle has about 528 square inches of cooking surface, which is enough to cook for up to six people. Larger 36-inch flat-top grills have around 750 square inches of cooking surface, which is enough for gatherings of eight or more people. Blackstone’s smaller tabletop models, which have around 300 square inches of cooking space, are suitable for up to four people. Keep in mind that Blackstone’s griddles can take up a fair amount of real estate on a deck or patio, so be sure to consider the griddle’s overall size when shopping for one. Traditional gas or charcoal grills have a ridged cooking surface and rely on direct heat from the flame to cook food.

To season your flattop grill for the first time, pour about two to three tablespoons of oil directly onto the entire surface of your Blackstone grill. Repeat this process twice more, adding a new oil layer and waiting for the surface to smoke, and then turn off the griddle and let it cool.
