It also gives them just enough ride time at 40 minutes per battery charge. The scooter has a 1,000-watt motor and chain drivetrain that helps it reach speeds of up to about 20 miles per hour, with a range of 16.6 miles. And with some solid 16-inch wheels with wide pneumatic tires, that ride will be very smooth, according to Razor. Other features included in the cargo scooter include bright LED headlight and tail and brake lights, and an onboard display for speed and battery life. The rechargeable battery gives your kid 40 minutes of continuous riding time, while the pneumatic tires and hand-operated rear brake give them a smooth ride and keep your child safe. If you’re concerned about balance, you might want to try a vehicle with three wheels, like the one in our Doohan iTank review.
The front brake was a simple caliper, similar to that on bicycles. Under the deck, the specifications noted that there were two lead-acid batteries. The E100’s motor turns the rear wheel with a chain drive. Lead-acid batteries, the same type used for decades to power starter motors in cars, seemed a little primitive to me in this era, when lithium-ion appears in most electronics. The E100 lacked much of anything beyond its brake, accelerator and kickstand.
The foot deck of the E100 is 7.75″ wide, which is plenty of space for riders maxing out at 120 lbs. The E200 and E300 both have fuller decks for larger riders. Electric scooters are more expensive than traditional scooters because they have motors and large batteries. Be aware, however, that they are still basically toys and Razor is not a luxury brand. We’ve had our own issues with our E100 (keep reading!) and we’ve heard lots of stories of scooters that just stop working or never work out of the box. To charge this scooter, you’ll have to find the plug under the base, move the cover aside, and plug in.

It’s not ugly or embarrassing looking — in fact, the olive green body is a nice touch. And it’s got the safe, secure feeling of a bike with the compactness of a kick scooter. The 8-inch pneumatic front tire is a good shock absorber, and the tire is big enough that I know it can make it over larger cracks in the road. Minor bumps did not interfere with my grip on the handlebars. These razor hoverboardss are built for kids, so the makers expect rough use from the riders. Keeping this in mind, the manufacturers have invested in creating a sturdy steel frame body.
If you’re looking for an electric scooter and your price range is within the $400 mark, this is the scooter I’d recommend above the rest right this minute. Then there’s the E-TWOW electric scooter that’ll cost you closer to $1000. That one’s about the same size as the Razor E Prime III, and it weighs about the same, too. They’ve designed their fair share of exceedingly successful scooters over the past decade. They know how to design scooters, and they’ve created a machine that looks and feels good with this E Prime III as a result.
Razor provides a 90-day limited warranty on all their electric rideables. While this is fine on the cheaper models, we feel this is a little low for a model in excess of $400. Many competitors will offer you 180 days or even a year for similarly priced razor electric scooter products. If you’re looking for a light, relatively fast scooter to sprint 2-3 miles at 18 MPH, this is a standout option. As someone who was just weeks ago apprehensive to get on the electric scooter bandwagon, this was a reassuring entry point.
In fact, you may find yourself using the rear foot brake for more gentle stops, since the motor braking comes on quite strong. This scooter has a 250-watt electric motor that propels it at speeds as fast as 15 mph. The seat post and cushion are removable so you can transition to a ride-on scooter. The handlebar and headtube fold for carriage when a quick release latch is opened. The real comparison should be between the various electric scooters we’ve tested over the past few years.
