The Spirit II have two large wheels on the right side of the grill and leg mounts on the right. On the Spirit II only the left side table can be collapsed to create a grill with a width of 38 inches. On the original Spirit both the right and left side table can be collapsed to create a grill with a width of 29.5 inches. Fold the left side shelf of the grill down to make a smaller patio footprint.
This can also work well for low and slow cooking or if you want to cook something over indirect heat. Well, this amounts to about 15 burgers, a couple of racks of ribs, and about three whole chickens, depending on the size of the birds. I don’t enjoy opening and closing doors while trying to keep an eye on the grill. The multiple tool hooks are certainly a great option and isn’t something that you always find with grills, even on high end ones. The first is that it allows me to easily transfer food from platters onto the grill with minimal hassle.
As I already mentioned, the three burners aren’t up to most gas grills standards, but it will still do for a small to mid-sized family. That being said, there is ample cooking space here – it is on par even with more expensive brands. Weber’s other new addition to the Spirit line, the Spirit SP-335, is basically the S-315 with a built-in side burner and a dedicated high-heat Blackstone Adventure searing area on the grill. We don’t recommend grills with side burners because we don’t think that extra feature is worth the $100-plus markup. We think you’re better off saving over $200 with the Spirit II E-310. If you want to splurge on a grill with exceptional temperature control and a dedicated searing zone, go for our upgrade pick, the Weber Genesis II E-325s, instead.
With side tables for placing serving trays and spices, the Spirit II adds convenience and simplicity to everyday life, and nobody left hungry. With its excellent GS4 grilling system, tech-friendly twist (with the iGrill 3) better warranty options and compact footprint, grilling becomes a lot more versatile. Having said that, regardless of which model you choose, with Weber you can expect nothing less than the best grilling experience. If you’re interested in the Weber Spirits it is probably worth checking out the differences of the Spirit to the Genesis series as well.
Finally, although we looked at grills from high-end makers such as Hestan, Lynx/Sedona, and MHP for comparison (and a sense of what’s possible in a grill, for a price), we did not test them. Most of them cost four or five figures, well above our established price range of $400 to $900. If you’re buying a grill, your first decision is which type of fuel works best. When we first started working on this guide, back in 2017, we spoke with more than a dozen experts before opening the valve on a single propane tank. With more heat per square inch and a larger grilling area than the Spirit E-310, the Genesis E-325s is our top choice for dedicated grillers. Common to both Spirit and Spirit II, Weber grills come with some excellent wheels that make the movement of the grills smoother.
When the Spirit II grills came out in 2018 they were available in an amazing array of colors such as Crimson, Ivory and Sapphire. Those colors, which were widely popular, are no longer available and you can only buy one of these grills in Black. It is my belief that Weber is going to discontinue the Spirit II grills and is in the process of clearing them out of inventory. Both grills receive an overwhelmingly positive response from their owners. They took the quality of the Spirit line and added their new Weber CONNECT technology so you can monitor how quickly your food is cooking via the included probe thermometer. You can see the readout at the grill itself on the display or check it via the app on your smartphone. A warming rack and fold down left side shelf are included with Spirit II.
