After testing dozens of robot vacuums, he is neither worried about AI nor holding his breath for self-driving cars. He enjoys visiting factories and learning about regulatory loopholes, and has flooded our testing area only three times. On top of this, we run an interior car cleaning test to assess how well each vacuum tackles crevices, before trying it out on a set of stairs to see how easily it manoeuvres. We love the impressive new laser feature, which shows up the tiniest of dirt as you go, but it only works on hard floors.
The vacuum shut off repeatedly and alerted us that it needed to be emptied, despite having no debris in the dust bin, and it spit larger debris across the floor. To get the most out of a cordless vacuum, it’s best to pick one that is easy-to-maneuver in different spaces, is lightweight, and has strong battery power. Another difference between the cordless vacuums I tested is in dustbin size – both Dysons I tested have double the size dustbins as the Sharks. The dustbins for the Dyson v10, v11, and v15 hold 0.8 quarts while the dustbins for the Rockets hold 0.34 quarts. All four vacuums shark cordless have simple one-touch emptying where you push a button and the bottom pops open and the dust is supposed to fall out without ever having to touch it. However, with all four vacuums I often have to use my hand to get the crap in the dustbin because it doesn’t fall out on its own (which I think is due to having a family of girls with long hair). For a direct comparison the Dyson V8 weighs roughly 2.6kg, and the Bosch Athlet 3kg.
While it performed well in our testing, the corded Shark seems stuck in the past when it comes to portably vacuuming your car. Immediately, the narrow opening gave the vacuum issues with big chunks, causing clogs. Surprisingly dyson robot vacuum powerful in its high-power mode, the H30 also produces higher-than-average noise levels. The DeWalt 20-Volt Max Cordless Vacuum competed nicely with the Milwaukee vac, but the yellow machine was edged out in certain areas.
You can set a schedule for this robot to run regularly in your home and it will automatically return to the base once the cleaning session is complete. We were disappointed to learn that this robot only self-empties when in vacuum mode, so we did manually empty it after using it in mop mode (a favorite feature among our team). One of the main appeals of this vacuum is its Matrix Clean technology, which moves across floors in a grid pattern, effectively passing every spot multiple times so no debris is left behind.
