Plus, its compact build can be quickly stored away in your laundry room or hallway closet without taking up too much space. There’s even a hook on the side of the vacuum’s stick for storing. But if you are, it might be time to upgrade to the Bissell Garage Pro.

And if you’re a pet owner with allergies, this vacuum is definitely for you. The Rocket Pet Pro’s sealed system, with a HEPA filter, means that small, airborne debris are filtered and trapped inside the vacuum. The cleaning head also has lights on it, making it easy to see (and therefore clean) dust, pet hair, and other debris that you’d otherwise miss. Even if you don’t love cleaning, your vacuum should make you hate cleaning less.

I was able to stay upright while the vacuum did all of the bending, saving my back in the process. While we recognize that an over $500 price tag definitely places this robot vacuum in a splurge category, we think it’s well worth the investment. For busy families and homes with lots of hard flooring, it can be a time saver and offer peace of mind by removing one chore from your weekly routine.

A digital display will update you on battery life, which proved to be accurate, and on eco mode it lasted for just over an hour. The vac comes with two batteries but note they take over four hours to charge. Carrie-Ann Skinner was formerly Homes Editor at TechRadar, and has more than two decades of experience in both online and print journalism, with 13 years of that dyson robot vacuum spent covering all-things tech. Carrie specializes in smart home devices such as smart plugs and smart lights, as well as large and small appliances including vacuum cleaners, air fryers, stand mixers, and coffee machines. In the UK, it’s also available with an extra battery for £499.99 (around $700) or with a PowerFin pet hair attachment for £429.99 (around $600).

So it’s no surprise that it finds itself at the top of this list as well. A powerful, ultra-lightweight cordless hand vacuum for carpet, upholstery, bare floor cleaning, and more. Includes rechargeable 15.6V battery and a rubberized hand grip for comfortable handling. Use the Motorized Pet Brush to pick up embedded pet hair, and then store the vacuum on the convenient wall mount. However, the Shark vacuum does feature a flexible wand that is a real game changer for reaching under furniture. You can stop ignoring the dust bunnies under your sofa because Shark designed this vac with a hinge that gives the floor head greater reach.

Shocked, we charged the battery again for 24 hours, and once again, it lasted the same amount of time. We set out to find the best car vacuum cleaner available to solve your car-cleaning needs. We lined up a test for the ages, pitting 14 vacuums of varying shapes and sizes against each other on as even a playing field as possible. The tests included noise readings, suction power, ease of disposal, battery life, and of course, how well they suck up different kinds of debris on a floor. This all-around excellent canister vacuum has an adjustable cleaning head that can rise or fall to suit different types of flooring, including high-pile carpets.

For homes filled with nooks and crannies, this vacuum is well worth considering. There’s no continuous power button, so you do have to keep your finger on the trigger throughout use, and it can be bulky to manoeuvre, especially when used as a handheld. You’ll also have to use it on eco mode to vacuum long pile carpet, as its high power can make it hard to manoeuvre.

So we’re not really comparing apples to apples here between the two brands and neither is telling us how long to expect the vacuum to run when being used as most of us would. Better suction and pick up than other vacuums at this price point. After a few uses carpets in particular are noticeably cleaner than other brands.
