Regarding cleaning, the Dyson V6 had similar results to the Dyson V8—87% of debris captures on hardwood floors, 94% captured on low pile carpet, and 92% captured on high pile carpet. Robot mops score better on hard surfaces and are ideally suited for hardwood, laminate and tile flooring types.
The mapping feature of the Dyson is also significantly better than the one on the Shark IQ. It lets us lay down a strip of precise area of soil to match the nozzle dimensions for every robot. We measure a proportional amount that’s related to the flooring material, type of debris, plus each vacuum’s nozzle width. Dyson appears to be readying a new robot vacuum, possibly for US release. Without Wi-Fi, you’ll likely be required to press stop and go manually each time on the robot vacuum itself. For homes with such terrain you want a robot vacuum with a good amount of clearance, so its front does not get stuck on raised surfaces.
The 960 uses the same motor that is found in the 800 Series Roombas, which gives it a slightly shorter run time and less power on carpet than then Roomba 980 model. If your house is primarily hardwoods, it is likely that you won’t notice the change in performance between the 960 and the 980, but for carpeted areas, this could be a different story. Dyson also offers an autonomous robot dyson robot vacuum vacuum, but there’s only one model—the Dyson 360 eye. This model is a high-end robot vacuum that offers many of the same features and stats of the Roomba line-up, but is quite a bit more expensive. For cleaning hardwoods, Roomba is likely going to be your best bet, especially the Roomba 980 or Roomba 960which both scored 100% but for carpeted floors, the Dyson V8 has a real advantage.
The S7’s sonic scrubbing is pretty tough for a robot that’s not putting arm muscle into it. Light shoe prints were gone in the first pass, while spilled cranberry juice took two. The mop pad is easy to slide off and lightly clean off, which I preferred to do so that said cranberry juice wasn’t being dragged around the rest of my apartment. I also found its suction level to be an indicator of how full the dust bin was. When it stops swiping large pieces of debris, don’t get pissed — there’s probably no room. With a dust bin about the width of a Nintendo Switch screen (and not much deeper), it fills quickly.
The design of the Dyson V6 certainly looks very similar to the Dyson V7 and V8 model, and it is. Like the Roombas, dyson robot vacuum there is one simple button to start cleaning. In the case of the Dyson V10, this button is actually a trigger.
