However, even with frequent use, this only needs to be emptied and cleaned out occasionally. To make this job even simpler, I like to line the tray with aluminum foil. You will have no problem getting up to 500 Fahrenheit degrees, something that you can expect with larger grills. Thus, you can easily tackle all kinds of meat and can even give searing a try. What’s more, the domed lid creates space for larger roasts.
The grill has the dimensions 14.5 x 27 x 16.5 inches with the lid closed and weighs only 30 pounds, making it portable enough to take it with you in your RV. The key to a good barbeque lies in the quality of the meat, portable bbq the recipe, and of course, the company. How else will you get a perfectly tender yet smoky piece of steak? If you do not own a reliable and trust-worthy grill, your barbeque experience could be quite frustrating.
Last up is the cart itself, which while functional, is about as flimsy as the tables. The cart will do perfectly fine while you are grilling your burgers but has quite a bit of wobble once you grab a brush and try to scrape it clean. The cart does collapse and you can roll the thing around but you will not want to. There is no lid latch to keep the lid closed during transport and the grates will bounce around, and then out, of the grill while you are rolling the cart. The Q2200 has a single burner the goes around the body of the grill.
However the Traveler, which is just a little bigger than the Q2200 is absolutely portable and has a much improved cart and side table. My experience with portable bbq grills is that they get hot enough to grill steaks properly, have even heat distribution and are highly reliable. I do not own a Q2200 but do have the Q1200 and Q3200, and I enjoy both of them very much. Design flaw – you can only use smallest propane because frame limits size of cylinder. The Q is much smaller, but not noticeable when it comes to cooking.
The grease tray in the bottom of the grill collects the grease and debris that runs out. Weber sells disposable aluminum trays that fit in this little compartment, but it’s not necessary to use them. In my opinion, it’s not much more work to clean out the tray along with the rest of the grill. If you are interested in using them, they are relatively inexpensive.
We use an adapter hose to conncet directly to the propane port on our travel trailer. The heavy duty cast iron grates pre-heat evenly, and are easy to clean. The side tables make good work areas when the grill is in use and fold nicely for storage. We have been impressed how well the igniter works, the easy to clean heating surfaces, and rugged design.
As long as it is hooked up to enough propane gas, it is able to produce a good amount of heat. This model, in particular, does a great weber genesis 2 job of reaching higher temperatures. I also like the side tables – they are high quality and are perfectly designed to hold food.
From putting it together to actually using the grill, it has been a wonderful experience all around. And, while I will be using my whole grills for heavy duty grilling and smoking, this has earned its spot in my collection. In general, though, this gas grill is pretty easy to use. After a quick read through of the manual, even first timers shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring how it works. If you are looking for a temperature higher than this, though, you may find the Weber Q 2200 faltering. Of course, this is true of bigger and more expensive grills.
A durable, tough, and trustworthy grill can make all the difference between a successful and a failed barbeque party. It is always better to invest your money in one that can last for a long time. We highly recommend you to go for the Series, which contains all the best features for you.
