It’s not a deal breaker with us, but you do have to separately buy the batteries and charger. Transportation charges for the movement of any power equipment unit or attachment are the responsibility of the purchaser. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to pay transportation charges for any part submitted for replacement under this warranty unless such return is requested in writing by Greenworks. Greenworks hereby warranties this product, to the original purchaser with proof of purchase, for a period of three years against defects in materials, parts or workmanship.
Off the clock, his faith and love for his family are his top priorities, and you’ll typically find him in the kitchen, on his bike (he’s an Ironman), or taking folks out for a day of fishing on Tampa Bay. It has a flip-top cap that’s easy to grip with your finger and thumb even when you’re wearing gloves. The translucent window to view your oil level is a little tough to see through. It’s okay in bright sunshine, just not in the shade.
It also folds up in a self proclaimed “2 seconds.” So take that for what you will. I don’t know how that really impacts the way the mower works but I guess it makes it that much quicker to a nice Bud Latte during a hot summer afternoon. If the mower should start to vibrate abnormally, immediately stop the motor, remove the battery and check for the cause.
Everyone wants to know runtime for a mower—so we did our best to test it. So then it just depends on how well the system utilizes the batteries in managing both metrics. We fully charged the two 4Ah Ultra Power batteries included in the kit and inserted them into the mower. We first cut a large area of grass at the mower’s maximum height of 4-inches. Then, we dropped the deck all the way down to 1 3/8-inches to see if it would cut. Typically, when finding the minimum effective cut height, we have to raise the deck a couple of notches.
Easy to Switch Between Different Functions – You can mulch, bag or side discharge your clippings with the Greenworks Pro 80V, which is handy. But most importantly, it’s super simple and fast to switch between these different options. So whether you want to collect your clippings or mulch them and leave them on your lawn to feed it, this mower has you covered.
We also enjoyed that we didn’t have to tug an extension cord along as we moved around our yard. The battery-powered device proved especially useful near our fenced-in garden and the set of stairs that run up an ivy-covered hill where we’d typically have to painstakingly rake out the leaves. For homeowners the benefits of a cordless chainsaw are huge. Most homeowners neglect proper maintenance of small gas engines ultimately leading to difficulty starting the motor and costly repairs. Battery-powered cordless chainsaws eliminate those hassles completely.
A fully depleted battery needs about 30 minutes to full recharge. The first thing to consider when looking for a self-propelled lawnmower is what kind of yard you have. The size and shape of your yard, as well as the kind of grass you have and the amount of slope on your lawn will affect what kind of lawn mower you need. For example, if you have a flat lawn, then you may want to consider a front-wheel drive lawn mower, instead of a rear-wheel drive lawn mower which is better for sloped yards.
Some of the Hardware is a Little “Cheap” – For a mower in this price range, it would have been nice to see Greenworks spend just that little bit more to upgrade the quality on some of the hardware. It Mulches Great – A considerable number of consumers that have bought and used this mower specifically single out its ability to mulch as a real plus. It’s not just that you have the option to mulch either. It chops up clippings into really fine mulch, with very few reports of clumping and is a real improvement on most of the models that came before it, such as the 40v Twin Blade version. So if mulching is important to you, this is a good bet.
HOWEVER, if I had to buy an electric mower this is one that I would seriously consider.Compared to other electric mowers like the Sun Joe, Ryobi, or the Dewalt, this one has a tad more experience. When it comes to outdoor power equipment, Greenworks Pro puts the emphasis on power. We understand that Homeowners and Prosumers take on jobs of all sizes and need pro-grade products with long-lasting performance. Our high-efficiency brushless motors deliver Better than Gas™ performance – without the noise, mess and fumes that gas powered products produce. It all adds up to give you the line of outdoor power equipment you deserve.
Even worse, the propelling option stalls the mower out when you try to stop and turn it, and it the effect continues for a couple seconds after you disengage the lever. This makes turning the mower very difficult and annoying when also using the propelled feature. But one disconcerting part of the Pro’s performance is that self-propelling feature. In theory, it works just like a gas mower’s version, with a sliding panel of rabbit-to-turtle speeds and an extra lever to activate. The battery did take extra time to charge, due to its size and capabilities. It can provide 1-2 hours of cutting power, and generally showed better power upkeep than other batteries, with less fading away over time.
