Review: Weber Genesis II LX Grill

To see whether the upgrades are indeed improvements, Consumer Reports bought all of these grills for testing. The most common issue was a hotter front of the grill than the back as a result of the gas pressure not reaching the back of the grill. The new Genesis II burners solve both issues with a tapered design and larger, protruded openings to address these concerns with aplomb. Burner holes (also known as “ports”) have been made larger and more extruded. As a result, the new Genesis II burners are more resistant to corrosion and clogging issues that can sometimes plague other grill models and series. Upgraded features and stainless steel components bring grilling versatility and a premium look to any backyard.

The burner knobs, nice big handle on the lid, lid-mounted thermometer, side tables, all there and all very similar. The six tool hooks on the side tables are great for hanging all your accessories. Without going into too much generic background about the new series, let’s instead look specifically at what the new grills offer, and then dig down into some specific models. The lights come on as the lid is opened and are powerful enough to illuminate the entire grilling area as well as the side tables. A huge difference between the older Weber models and the 2022 Genesis models is the upgraded wheels.

This brings us to the LX grill with the largest cooking surface, the six-burner Weber Genesis II LX S-640. It costs $2,000 and scores almost as well as the four-burner model above, although its temperature range wasn’t as wide. At 6 feet long, it takes up about as much space as a couch. The two-burner Weber Genesis II LX S-240 is a small grill, and at $1,000, it’s one of the most expensive small grill in our tests. Heat was fairly well-distributed across the cooking surface and the temperature range was very good, but you’ll need a bit more than 10 minutes of preheating to get it nice and hot. On the other side of the size spectrum, the new Genesis series features grills with four and six burners for those who like to do some serious grilling.

The new infinity igniters that come with a 10 year warranty promises to take care of those lighting up hassles almost for good. Michael is the President of Angry BBQ and self proclaimed Pitmaster. Evenness of heating over the grill’s surface at the highest and lowest setting using all main burners plus the evenness after a 10 minute preheat, using thermocouples. Pair the impressive power with plenty of grilling space, excellent heat distribution, and an abundant amount of storage – the Genesis II E-310 really seems like it’s worth the price. That being said, it has less storage space than the other grill, as well as less cooking space. People tend to go for this grill over the Genesis due to the lower price.

However, you will still need to take caution whenever you use it because it is a propane grill. This product is a Liquid Propane unit and you must weber q have a liquid propane tank to be able to use… This is probably the grill that is going to strike the sweetest middle ground for most people.

It’s a good size grill for big families or gatherings and for many people there won’t be a lot of motivation to spend $200 – $300 extra on the 4-burner or larger models. Personally I’m not sure weber q if there was really a call for a 2-burner Genesis, but here it is and it is an excellent grill either way. It just happens to be surrounded by really good competition in the Spirit II models.

It seemed a bit fussy to me.Here are the stainless steel grates I found inside the SE burner model, a special model available only at certain dealers like Ace Hardware. They appear to be punched from the inside surface of the burner, resulting in little raised nozzles. Here’s the cast iron cooking grates in one of the 3-burners grills. They seem to be the same as 2016 grates.Removing the cooking grate reveals the porcelain enameled Flavorizer bars. They seem less substantial than past enameled bars.Perhaps the saddest feature of the new Genesis II gas grill…it’s now Made in China, just like the Spirit gas grill. Let this top-performance liquid propane grill take charge of backyard entertaining.
