Do not use a battery pack or appliance that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. Non-approved batteries and chargers may cause damage to the mower or injure the operator.
This was an excellent decision in my opinion and allows proper chain tension to be set using a saw wrench or screwdriver in the same manner as a traditional gas saw. It includes a start button , Now I just click a button and it quietly hums along. It also includes a turbo button to, you guessed it, turn up the power on your cuts. It also includes an on-board battery indicator up by the throttle control so you can easily see how much power you have left. When the mower is ready to start, you may grab the start handle or the self-propel lever to turn on the LED headlight .
There is a self-propelling option onboard the mower to make things a little easier (we’ll talk more about this a little later). You can buy this model at Tractor Supply for $749.99 with a pair of 4.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. Both the mower and the batteries are backed by a 4-year warranty. If you like to mow in the early morning or at dusk, the inclusion of LED headlights will make you smile. Arranged as a string of 6-LEDs, this lets you illuminate your cutting path without sacrificing much in the way of runtime. One downside of this design is the lack of a side discharge.
Two batteries will yield over an hour of mowing—perfect for medium to larger yards. My backyard is almost an acre and I was able to cut half of it before the battery died. They were underpowered and too restrictive in terms of runtime. Fast forward to 2018 though and cordless options have caught up! The Greenworks Pro’s 21-in steel cutting deck features a 3-in-1 design, allowing you to mulch, rear bag, or side discharge grass clippings. It comes with a bagger for collecting grass clippings, creating a tidy lawn as you mow.
Periodically inspect safety devices and cords for damage. If damaged do not operate the unit until it has been repaired by an authorized service professional. Keep cutting edges clean and sharp to ensure the best performance.

In terms of runtime, it varies depending on what you’re cutting, how thick it is, and which battery you use. In our opinion, the 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah battery is the way to go, giving the saw an excellent blend of runtime, balance, and weight. Paired with the 6-amp charger, you should be able to work nearly continuously with a pair of batteries.
Vibration is generally a warning that the mower is not functioning properly. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or mower outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire. Love mine, after having back surgery my gas mower was just too heavy.
