Dyson’s Robot Vacuum Has 360-Degree Camera, Tank Treads, Cyclone Suction

The 800 Series is a nice option for slightly more budget-conscious users, but those who also want to retain a number of bells-and-whistles. This is certainly not a “stripped down” model, but is within the $$ price tier, making it a nice middle-of-the-road kind of a vacuum. For Roomba vs. Dyson, I would put theRoomba 690orRoomba 650about on par with the Dyson V6. These vacuums are ideal for small spaces or areas where expansive navigation is not really a concern. However, you don’t need to worry about such things with the iRobot Roomba j7. It isn’t going to tidy away your mess but it will give a wide berth to obstacles that could cause it problems.

We don’t have information from Dyson as to how much the 360 Eye will cost, but according to some rumors, it might be US $1,650. This, obviously, is a lot, but if it really can take over as a vacuum replacement robot , it could conceivably be worth it. It’s also worth mentioning that some 360 Eye press materials suggest irobot vacuum cleaner that the vacuum can identify what kind of surface it’s on, and will prioritize cleaning “easier” surfaces first. On the smart home front, there’s an Alexa skill, so you can ask your 360 Heurist to start or stop cleaning from your Echo speaker. Annoyingly, Dyson has still to add the Google Assistant to the mix.

So while it does a great job squeezing in narrow gaps, it struggles to get under some furniture. Given they are unlikely to obstruct or obfuscate a roaming robot vacuum, the majority of these types of cleaners tout their abilities to tackle hard floors. Using whatever navigation system they have, whether it’s automatic smart navigation or via boundary strips, the majority of robot vacuum cleaners on this list are fine with hard floors.

The Dyson has a drop sensor to prevent it from falling off ledges or tumbling down stairs. While dark colors on carpet or tile flooring can confuse the sensors, it is less likely to avoid false drops like the Roomba 980 is prone to do. If you happen to rearrange your furniture or add new obstacles, the Roomba 980 will probably bump into them once. Lithium-ion is the reigning champion of rechargeable, long lasting batteries and both the Roomba 980 and the 360 Eye use them.
