Braun is the only brand to use a coiled cord with their charger. Many postal services that ship by air classify alcohol in any amount as a hazardous material. As a result, they may charge what is known as a hazardous material handling fee. While the fee is generally minor, it is worth mentioning, especially if you plan to ship this product internationally. If you travel a lot or simply want to keep your shaver clean when not in use, a travel case is a must. The hard outer shell is just the thing you need to keep your shaver safe from drops.
In the Series 5 50xx, there are three models available at the moment; they are 5018s, 5020s and 5050cs. For Series 5 51xx, there are also three models, which are 5140s, 5145s and 5190cc. The motor does a good job of sensing our skin patterns and adapting accordingly.
The longer flat hairs were an issue and the shaver found it hard to pick them up. This is why it seems to work best without too much growth (i.e., less than 3 days). I enjoy wet shaving, however, in terms of closeness I did not notice any difference in closeness.
In our test of the two, the micro-vibrations made a slight difference to the shave but not so much that we would declare the end result of the shave superior. If you think the shaving unit looks familiar, that’s because it is. The shaving unit is identical to the one found on top of the Braun Series 7 (Model 790cc-4). Simply press the button in with your thumb while sliding upwards and the trimmer will spring right up. Even things like button placement and charging port are almost the same. Oh, and they feel near identical in the hand too.
The cleaning station is essentially a dock that cleans, charges and lubricates your electric shaver. Of course, people have their own preferences when it comes to electric shavers. When you compare it to the 5090 (it’s older brother), there’s a 5-minute improvement. Thankfully, Braun reconsidered Remington Shaver and went with a brand-new LED attachment with 5190cc. This thing is clearer in terms of intensity.
I tried to test it in a variety of scenarios so I can get a better understanding of its pros and cons and when this shaver would be a suitable option. For this review, I’ve been using the Braun Series s exclusively for almost two weeks. The battery indicator is very basic, with only 3 levels, each one representing a third of the battery capacity. Charging the 5018s from 0 to 100% takes around one hour. The charger (type 492-XXXX) has a USA plug and will work anywhere in the world (100–240v). Nevertheless, the battery life has been solid during my tests with the Series s.
This thing has decent sleeves to ensure there aren’t any electricity leakage and short circuits while the battery is feeding on some juice. Braun is no stranger to “Good” shaving products. They nail it when it comes to entry-level and high-end electric razors. Users who’re looking to get a middle ground of sorts, convert to Phillips and Panasonic to get their fill.
