It’s one Dyson Link app for all your connected Dyson machines; so the Heurist lives alongside any heaters, coolers and Lightcycle lamps you might have in your household. Thankfully this all very Dyson-esque, with compartments and segments all popping apart with ease. The 330ml dust bin is on the small side but is super simple to pop out and empty. Powered by Dyson’s V2 motor, which Spins at 78,000rpm, Dyson informs us that it has 20% more suction than the 360 Eye. The 360 Heurist has plenty of performance improvements over the original 360 to make it a better cleaner – we’ll get to those – but the most intriguing feature is night vision.

We loved the ability to name each room, to define areas and restrictions on the map the robot generates, and the ability to schedule cleans. Impressively, this robot returns itself to its docking station to charge. However, it occasionally struggled with this, bumping into the docking station rather than parking itself. In addition, when it does steer onto the docking port, it can be insecure. On one occasion, having watched the vacuum take itself back to its dock, leaving it there between tests, we were disappointed to return to find it had not charged properly.
This caused the vacuum to rock thinner items of furniture such as lamps or coat-stands. This includes a hand with soft graspers that look an awful lot like a human hand and, naturally, a vacuum attachment. As the firm notes, the robotic stuff doesn’t come out of nowhere, exactly — a surprising amount of vision processing, AI and autonomy go into something like a robot vacuum.
Even if you relocated the vacuum and charging station prior to the next cleaning cycle, there wouldn’t be many issues in navigation. The Roomba 980 has a top mount video camera that allows it to map the cleaning area with a visual map. The iAdapt 2.0 technology stores this map rendering in the robot’s memory to allow it to clean more efficiently. It will note furniture location, obstacles and drops, ledges and stairs and remember their location for the next cleaning cycle.
You can look at the design for clues as to when you might encounter problems. For homes with such terrain you want a robot vacuum with a good amount of clearance, so its front does not get stuck shark cordless on raised surfaces. Chunky wheels able to move in and out of the frame also increase that clearance when needed. Dyson goes even further, using a tank track-like underside rather than wheels.
Its dust pickup on hard floors such as laminate is also capable. However, compared to a standard stick, upright, and cylinder vacuums, the robot vacuum’s performance was not as strong, though this is to be expected. The best models to choose are ones that have rubber brushes that are free from bristles, dyson robot vacuum so the pet hair doesn’t get trapped around them. Although that’s not to say robot vacuums with bristled brush bars aren’t as effective at collecting the hair. If you choose one of these, look for a design with a tool to help remove pet hair that’s got tangled to make your life easier.
If successful it will go around the cord to prevent being tangled again. Tangle-free in this instance does not mean free from hairs or strings. They got rid of the brushes and bristles and utilized interlocking grooves in their place. There is also a sensor in the extraction chamber to note if the bars are caught on something like a cord or wire. The parallel line formation of the vacuum lines is meant to behave more like a human would vacuum and reduces the need for alternate routes.
