Test Yourself DC Express is a free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test that detects if you have a current COVID-19 infection in as little as 15 minutes. These tests have been authorized for Emergency Use by the US Food and Drug Administration. The COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test kit is intended for the collection of anterior nasal swabs from individuals aged 15 years and older (self-collected) or 2 years and older . Test Yourself DC Express kits are available for DC residents, with proof of address, at 8 locations throughout the District. The at-home testing option utilizes saliva collection, which has the same effectiveness as the oral swab test.

If you do not follow the manufacturer’s instructions, your test result may be incorrect. If you were exposed to someone with COVID-19, test yourself at least 5 days after your exposure. If you test negative for COVID-19, consider testing again 1 to 2 days after your first test. If you test positive, follow the latest CDC guidance for isolation.

Save your receipt to submit to your plan for reimbursement at a rate of at least $12 per individual test (or the cost of the test, if less than $12). If you purchase an over-the-counter COVID-19 test from a pharmacy, store, or online retailer and are charged for your test, keep your receipt and submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. If your plan has not set up a network of preferred stores, pharmacies, and online retailers at which you can obtain a test with no out-of-pocket Disposable masks expense, you will be reimbursed the amount of the cost of the test. Starting January 15, most people with a health plan can go online, or to a pharmacy or store to purchase an at-home over-the-counter COVID-19 diagnostic test authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration at no cost, either through reimbursement or free of charge through their insurance.
