GearLab is founded on the principle of honest, objective, reviews. Our experts test thousands of products each year using thoughtful test plans that bring out key performance differences between competing products. And, to assure complete independence, we buy all the products we test ourselves. Just real, honest, side-by-side testing and comparison. The main reason we gave the 80V an 8 out of 10 for this metric is its charge time. At a mere 30 minutes, you will barely have time to rest and eat a snack before it’s time to get back to work.
Make sure the motor is not hot when you store the machine. Turn nut to the left to remove blade B , spacer , and positioner . Clean the bottom of the mower deck after each use. Higher blade height is necessary for new or thick grass. Release the drive levers to close the self-propel system. Once the machine has started, you can release the start button .
We put the greenworks pro 80V leaf blower to work in our own yard. Changing Cutting Height is a Snap – The Greenworks GLM boasts a one lever system that allows you to move the cut height up and down real easy. While this isn’t something groundbreaking or even unique to this mower, it’s a handy feature nevertheless. It Mulches Great – A considerable number of consumers that have bought and used this mower specifically single out its ability to mulch as a real plus. It’s not just that you have the option to mulch either. It chops up clippings into really fine mulch, with very few reports of clumping and is a real improvement on most of the models that came before it, such as the 40v Twin Blade version.
As far as Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers go, this is one of the nicest one’s I’ve used thus far. This mower uses dual 12.5” counter-spinning blades (don’t worry they’re geared appropriately to not hit each other) which drive the grass clippings towards the center and into the bag. The Greenworks Pro 60V platform has zero emissions and utilizes rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that are interchangeable among the entire lineup of tools. The batteries have a substantial lifecycle, powering a two-acre mow with a single charge on the 42” zero-turn mower.
We recently tested two of the new Greenworks PRO 60 Volt 16″ Cordless Chainsaw. Editor Todd Fratzel and I both received samples to test around the house with some tree and log cutting and this is a compilation of our collective thoughts. Take a look at how easy it is to start your self-propelled lawnmower. Traditional ones have a recoil start with a pull rope. By tugging on the rope, you pull a cord, which then turns over the engine to start the self-propelled lawnmower. For some people, having to pull the rope with a recoil-start mower can be difficult.
Try to keep the tree between yourself and the branch being trimmed . Keep bystanders at least 50’ from the tree being worked-on. Start by removing long, heavy branches in stages, cutting off small sections to reduce the impact of any falling debris. Cut lower branches first so debris can fall sun joe lawn mower more easily and not get stuck, causing a future hazard. If you are looking to cut logs with one pass, the log needs to be about 2″ smaller than the bar. However, there are many techniques to use a chainsaw for larger cuts. If you plug all three into one power strip, it’s not going to work.
Also, avoid discharging material against walls or obstructions, which may cause discharged material to ricochet back toward the operator. Always wear safety glasses or safety goggles during operation and while performing an adjustment or repair to protect your eyes. Thrown objects that ricochet can cause serious injury to the eyes. Always use a face or dust mask if the operation is dusty.
Turbo-Mode speeds up the blade motor for a faster, more substantial cut—at the expense of battery life—and should be reserved for tall, thick grass areas only. Despite the Turbo-Mode, the motor is geared to use energy savings when it detects an easier to cut grass area potentially extending battery life. For the record, battery life with the 60V 5.0 Ah for me was exactly 36 minutes on a full charge. That’s with a normal cut using self-propelled for the entire mowing. This makes the mower good for smaller to medium-sized lawns. Two batteries will yield over an hour of mowing—perfect for medium to larger yards.
Self-propelled lawn mowers that are front-wheel drive provide more dexterity when it comes to turning and maneuvering. This kind of mower is perfect for those who have flat lawns. On the other hand, if you have a sloped lawn, then a rear-wheel drive lawn mower is a better choice. Founded in 2017, Greenworks is a brand that exclusively specializes in lithium-ion power tools. You can adjust the deck height using the single lever located at the right rear wheel. Even though this mower has a steel deck, two blades, and two batteries, that single lever moved everything smoothly and easily.
