Once you login to your Apple account, the Beats Solo Pro will pair with your entire iOS library. Road noise, engine drone and background office noise was reduced, while noisy commuters were slightly quietened. The headphones do a fairly good job of passively blocking out noise without noise cancelling active, too. They can’t beats solo pro wireless quite match B&W, Bose or Sony but the Beats aren’t that far behind. The ear cups do a good job of passively blocking out sound, even if you don’t want to use noise cancelling. Thanks to the H1 chip, the Solo Pros are capable of Audio Sharing with other Beats headphones and earbuds – provided they have either a W1 or H1 chip.
But that largely has to do with the 700s being over-ear headphones not on-ear cans. The 700s’ large oval cups sit over my ears, creating a comfy seal that meant hours of pillowy-soft comfort. After a while, the smallish cups tend to put uncomfortable pressure on my tiny ears. The more I wore them, however, the more comfortable they became. After breaking the Solo Pros in, I could wear them for 2 hours with no real discomfort. For audio, on tracks with intense sub-bass content, like The Knife’s “Silent Shout,” the headphones deliver an impressive low-frequency response.
The greasy, glossy plastics seen on the Solo 3 and earlier headphones are now history, replaced by matte textures and exposed aluminum. These headphones are still predominantly plastic, but they feel sturdier and more robust than the Solo 3s. They have 40mm drivers just like the Solo 3s did, but the actual bits and pieces are all new. The ear cup cushions have increased in surface area by 70 percent compared to the Solo 3s, so there’s more padding making contact with your ears for better comfort and seal. And since these headphones have proven surprisingly popular at the gym and on runs, Beats has made some internal tweaks to improve their sweat resistance. The end result is headphones that still look the part but feel more deserving of your $300.
The Solo Pro are Beats’ most impressive headphones to date. They have a lot of attractive features, from constantly adapting Pure ANC to always-on Siri, that make beats studio3 them a solid all-around set with great audio quality. But for me, a person with a large melon of a head, they can become quite uncomfortable in less than an hour.
The Beats Solo Pro among one of the best Beats headphones to buy. They feature active noise cancelling, an advanced acoustic system, and provide p to 22 hours of battery life. Beats says you can expect up to 22 hours of battery life with ANC on and up to 40 hours with it turned off.
The arms fold into thirds to collapse down but the thick ear cups means they do not get quite as small as I would like for travelling. They ship with a soft recycled-felt case for protection but they feel robust enough to just toss in a bag. The £269.95 Beats Solo Pro blends the design of the firm’s existing Solo with the wired EP headphones for an attractive, modern and fairly sleek design. The call quality was noticeably better on both ends when I switched over to the Bose 700.
In a departure from their early noise cancelling models, Beats hit the nail on the head with its on-ear ANC technology in the Beats Solo Pro. It uses real-time audio calibration to automatically adjust noise cancelling intensity. A big problem with on-ears is their inability to passively isolate listeners from their surroundings. If you can’t get a good seal with the headphones, ANC is usually a lost cause.
The lows are powerful, and they don’t distort at top, unwise listening levels. At moderate levels, they still pack a punch, and the highs are quite sculpted as well, so things are balanced out. The AKG N60NC on-ear noise-cancelling headphones are nothing new, but the recent price drop to $100 makes them a tempting alternative. Listeners who aren’t bothered by the micro-USB input and dubious pivot points, should save a buck and go with AKG. Its headset is much cheaper than the Solo Pro and is more comfortable than Beats headphones too.
With intuitive features, all-day comfort and 2 listening modes the Beats Solo Pro wireless headphones are designed to be your all-day, everyday headphones. The sleek ergonomic design adjusts easily for a comfortable fit. And advanced acoustics provide powerful, emotive sound with balanced tonality. Plus, the long-lasting, rechargeable lithium-ion battery offers up to 22 hours of listening enjoyment.
