75I BreatheSmart Air Purifier

The Classic is a very reliable model but it’s better to be safe than sorry. At the top fan speed setting, the noise levels rise to 56 dB which is not ideal. Granted, the smaller Alen BreatheSmart FLEX also has 55 dB noise levels at Turbo Speed but the new 45i and 75i models have managed to reduce that number to 49 dB, a considerable difference.

It has a real time air quality indicator and sensor on-board as well as the ability to manually change modes or fan speeds. There are also two interchangeable covers, classic white or wood Lasko Box Fan tone. A solid option if you’re looking for a large purifier with the power to address big spaces. Three upgraded replacement filters are available for the Alen BreathSmart air purifier.

Polluted air first passes through a washable Pre-Filter, capturing large particles. Air then moves through HEPA type material where 99.9% of PM2.5 and 99% of PM0.3 are captured. Next, an antimicrobial lasko pedestal fans layer on the HEPA media kills captured germs & microbes. Finally, the air passes through the activated carbon layer which filters out household chemicals, VOCs, odors and pollution.

Even if you leave the purifier on auto to work its magic around the clock, as Alen recommends. At full power, the purifier consumes 50 watts of energy, which will set you back approximately $4.40 per month. In reality, the power consumed will be much, much lower as the purifier operates on the lowest setting 99% of the time. As you can see, there are plenty of options to choose from for filters that work with each type of air purifier from Alen, giving you plenty of options to choose from.

The BreatheSmart’s infrared sensor detects particles in the air, adjusting settings accordingly when in auto mode. The On/Off ring changes colors to reflect the air quality, red for high levels of pollutants, orange for moderate levels and blue for clean Lasko Box Fan air. This means you can see at a glance how well the BreatheSmart is purifying your air. The BreatheSmart is in about the same price bracket as the Dyson Pure Cool, but doesn’t have the in-depth feedback the Pure Cool can provide within the Dyson app.
