The Flex are tuned in such a way that vocals aren’t quite as pronounced as I’d like, which I think some small EQ tweaks could fix, but that’s simply not an option. Not only do they compare very closely to the BeatsX, with an even more bass-forward sound signature, but they also sound very close to the AirPods Pro, which are five times more expensive. The BeatsX missed out on being a Class 1 Bluetooth device, but the Flex has this feature, too, which means a much longer wireless range — up to 300 feet.
Battery power, or battery capacity, represents the amount of electrical energy that a battery can store. More battery power can be an indication of longer battery life. The higher the high-frequency response, the clearer and crispier the treble. The lowest frequency at which the device produces audio. The lower the low-frequency response, the stronger and juicier the bass.
They’re light, as you’d expect from a pair of wireless earbuds, weighing in at 0.66 ounces. There is no bulky carry case to drive that figure up, which is both a positive and negative depending on your point of view, as you also don’t have anywhere convenient to store them when not in use. The Beats Flex are also compatible with Apple’s audio sharing feature, which lets any two W1 or H1-equipped headphones or earbuds listen simultaneously to content from an iOS device. Getting great sound from a set of earbuds depends a lot on how they seal against your ear canal. With four sizes of silicone tips to choose from, most people should be able to get a secure and comfortable fit with the Beats Flex. The default set of tips is the medium size, and these proved to be very comfortable for me.
It’s a shame, because while the Beats Flex in-ears still offer a foot-tapping sound and an agile, taut bassline, there’s an extra ounce rolling off through the top end. Where the real functionality beats flex review comes into play is in Apple’s W1 chip. It’s the older sibling to the more powerful and faster H1 chip found in the AirPods Pro and recent Powerbeats models, but it’s still a smoother operator.
The right compartment houses a single button for power and pairing. If you own an Apple phone or tablet, you’ll be able to make the most of everything these wireless earbuds have to offer because they use the Apple W1 chip. It’s their older chip but will still seamlessly integrate these headphones into your ecosystem of Apple products. When you power them on they will automatically connect to your iPhone or iPad, and you can then use them with any Apple device that is synced to your iCloud without any extra set-up.
Apple claims Beats Flex has a battery life of 12 hours of listening time and I can tell you that I haven’t yet had to charge them and I’ve been using them for hours at a time for five days straight. With AirPods or Powerbeats Pro, I have a limited amount of time before I have to take them out and charge them in the middle of the day. I could never go multiple days without charging, let alone five beats studio3 days. The Beats Flex are simple, colorful in-ears with a neck cable design. They have 11 hours of continuous playback time and can be seamlessly paired with any Apple product, thanks to their W1 chip. While they’re stable enough for light exercise, they don’t have ear tips or stability fins to help keep them in place, unlike the Jaybird Tarah Pro Wirelessor the Beats Powerbeats 4 Wireless.
