If the temperature inside the glass jar is below 60°C, all 4 blending speeds and the pulse function can be operated. Above the display sits a dial for controlling blending, which gives four speed options and a pulse, as well as a separate button at the side to operate the machine’s stirring function. As you can’t blend while heating like many soup makers which offer a smooth setting, it does mean you need to chop vegetables well to ensure you end up with a smooth consistency. There’s a high setting for bringing liquids up to the boil and a simmer setting which is a lower temperature and ideal for simmering soups. If you want to stir, you need to press the slow stir button. The Soup Maker, without benefit of scale, requires cooks to use additional equipment and time for measuring ingredients.
