Yes I admit if you had more you might want to invest in another battery and they aren’t cheap. I think battery powered stuff is great for people that don’t know how or want to properly maintain gas powered equipment. As of now, I’m pretty sold on this EGO cordless string trimmer. It handled everything I threw at it yesterday, and if it can handle itself the same way as I work to clear the rest of the overgrown area, I don’t see any way things could be better.
This trimmer churns through thick grasses and stubborn brush with ease. This had our testers holding the trimer in awkward, un-ergonomic positions when doing smaller jobs. If you want a string trimmer to power Ego Powerload String through thick brush, this option works great. For cleaning up grassy yards after mowing, though, we advise you to look elsewhere. The respectable 15-inch cutting swath lets you get a good amount of work done.

It’s hard to overstate what an improvement this is to what’s often the single-worst aspect of using a string trimmer. With most other trimmers, the entire trimmer head needs to be disassembled and the new line manually wound onto the spool . Ego’s system is a much-needed improvement in this area. I bought the first Ego product, sun joe lawn mower the 12″ string trimmer, when it first came out about 4-5 years ago. It was a disaster due to a poorly designed head that made line feeding frustrating, no matter how carefully the string was wound on the spool. I bought this 15″ model when it first came out as initial reviews suggested they finally designed a working head.
The multi-head attachment tool is pretty cool and dead simple to use. The powerload string trimmer is definitely worth the price of admission. Aside from its power, run time, and control, this tool’s ergonomics are among the best we tested. The Ego weighs a little over 10 pounds, so it wasn’t the lightest of the bunch. But it was still very easy to manage due to its nice balance and the addition of a telescoping shaft and a quick adjustment on the handle . These two features make it possible to customize the ergonomics of the Ego to a wide variety of body heights and types, something we’ve never really seen on these larger trimmers.
You might think that almost all trimmers do this trick and you would be correct, But not all trimmers are this quiet and vibration-free. In fact, I when I began using it, I worried if it was operating at full power because it was so quiet. The EGO Power+ 15” POWERLOAD String Trimmer is just that—a trimmer. Mentally, I still call trimmers weed wackers, but I think that’s a brand name so “trimmer” it is.
I can clean up my tree patch (roughly a 1/3 acre) with my echo in one battery charge and it’s a 58V 4AH kit. Did a lot of research before buying into their system because I have some Dewalt 20V stuff but I’m not a fan of their OPE. Makita would have been my second choice for home use. The long service time is a well-known issue within the community.
