UPDATE. As we learn more about Weber’s “Smart” technology our opinion of the Genesis II SX-335 is changing. It appears this model is being replaced by the wonderful new 2022 Genesis Smart Grills which we are currently testing. Weber is developing their smart technology with June Life. Click here to read our review of the June Oven, an advanced, smart, indoor tabletop cooker. You will know when your food is done cooking without cutting into the meat, checking the color, or standing by the grill.

The sturdy construction and the 10-year limited Weber warranty can mean long years of fun backyard cooking. The external fuel tank and the considerable storage offered by the open cart design make this grill a practical choice for beginner grillers and seasoned BBQ veterans alike. It is large enough to cook a family meal and the reversible grates make it ideal for a variety of proteins. The model comes with a thermometer built into the lid while also having support for the iGrill 3 Bluetooth Thermometer which can be mounted on the side. The cast-iron, porcelain-enameled grates are accompanied by a porcelain-enameled lid that makes handling easier and safer.

Weber also switched the direction of the rods on the upper rack so that they now run back to front, instead of side to side. This makes slipping a spatula under the food so much easier. If you own a grill, you’ll have to perform these tasks at least a few times a year, so a grill that makes them a little easier is a welcome thing. Finally, we restricted our search to grills that burn propane from refillable tanks, the most common fuel by far.
