EGO ST1620T 56V Power+ 16″ Powerload w

The EGO POWER+ 56 Volt Charger boasts industry leading recharge times. In just 50 minutes, a depleted 2.5 Ah battery can be fully recharged with the 56-Volt Charger. EGO says you get up to 45 minutes of runtime on a single 2.5Ah 56V Arc Lithium Battery. We’ll look forward to testing that for ourselves.

It can even be used in inclement weather thanks to its weather-resistant construction. Every EGO string trimmer comes with a variable speed trigger with safety lock to give users even more control of the tool’s performance. Quiet operation is one of the main reasons to choose a battery-powered tool over their gas counterparts, and the Ego Power+ 15-Inch Powerload doesn’t disappoint in this respect. We measured 87 decibels when holding it at arm’s length, and when spinning, this string trimmer produces a pleasant, even sounding hum. This string trimmer is most in its element when tackling thick weeds and grasses. It’s one of the most powerful battery-powered trimmers in our tests and rips through the neglected, brushy corners of the yard.

And in tight spots, like between rose bushes, the Ryobi didn’t feel as nimble as the Ego. The Ego is a dual-line unit, meaning that two strings extend from the cutting head. And it comes equipped with a 0.095-inch trimmer line, which is on the thicker side and contributes to the trimmer’s cutting ability (a wide variety of 0.095 string is available).

There’s a little internal motor just to wind the string onto the head in a few seconds. We got 30 minutes of runtime out of the included 2.5 amp hour battery. Again, we actually longed for a less powerful speed setting for efficiency on light-duty jobs.

With the telescopic aluminum shaft, easily adjust the shaft length for ease of use and comfort. This 15” String Trimmer with POWERLOAD technology automatically winds your trimmer line. This EGO 56V ARC Lithium Telescoping String Trimmer with POWERLOAD™ Technology automatically winds your trimmer line for you. Replacing your string line is as easy as feeding the line into the head and pressing a button. Plus the length of the telescopic aluminum shaft easily adjusts to the perfect height for comfort and ease of use. Wide cutting swath and is built with a high-efficiency brushless motor, bump feed line advance, and 0.095in.

There is some pro cordless mowers that compete with pro zero turns – but you’re talking about a 17K mower. Many companies moved to a split shaft on it saves on shipping and boxes. But for others the split boom allows for an attachment system. But with respect to your battery use I’m surprised it took so much.

These adjustments make it easier to share the trimmer among members of a household. Most of these trimmers use big batteries, and they can take a while to fill up. Because it’s entirely possible for the battery to empty out during use, we wanted a tool with the shortest possible charge time, minimizing downtime. If you have only minimal trimming needs, we like the Worx WG170.2 GT Revolution 20V PowerShare String Trimmer and Edger.

Ego Powerload String

I might try it with a 2.5Ah battery, but I don’t think there will be much benefit to ergonomics or weight. Buying into EGO’s 56V cordless outdoor power system is easier on the wallet if you go with the 2.5Ah kit. But if you already have a charger and 5.0Ah battery, the bare tool is a good option. We tested the attachment-capable Ego Powerload String Kobalt KST 140XB-06 80V Max Straight Brushless Cordless String Trimmer and didn’t like the weight or the fussy interface. It also has only two speeds and no true variable-speed trigger. As for its downsides, we grew frustrated with the small debris guard, which caused our legs and shoes to be covered with grass trimmings.
