The Dyson 360 Eye, an Awesome New Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

My advice is to go a little bigger than you think you need, as you can always refine your results as you start to clean your house. Get the location of the dock wrong, or have a door at the wrong angle so that there’s only a small gap between it and furniture, and the 360 Heurist can miss out entire areas of your home. For me, the initial position of the dock meant that the 360 Heurist became confused and wouldn’t venture outside of the lounge. Brand-new it might be, but dyson robot vacuum the 360 Heurist isn’t a great deal different on the outside from the previous model, the 360 Eye. Sure, the new model has a flashier blue-purple paint job, rather than the drab grey of the original, but in terms of size and shape, the two models are identical. The Alexa Skill is very good, providing enough voice control that you can even use the robot in Routines, triggered either by your voice or through another bit of smart kit – say, your Ring Alarm turning on.

Inside the bin is also one washable filter, with a secondary filter at the rear. “In addition we’ve developed a vision system that enables the machine to be very methodical in its clean and not miss sections of floor space.” Image quality was a challenge, Aldred added, saying the team spent a long time looking at exposure control to handle light and dark rooms. This was solved by slowing down the robot in a dark room to avoid motion blur.

Considering usability, it is hard for a stick vacuum to compare to the ease of a robot vacuum, but what it’s really got going for itself here is the fact that it requires no “babysitting”. It only uses up battery when you’re physically holding down the trigger, and easily navigates in and out of rooms with the ease of cordless navigation. This vacuum uses the same Dyson V2 motor that is used in the Dyson 360 Eye robot vacuum .

TheRoomba 980cleans with a central dual-rubberized brushroll, spinning side brush, and three wheels for navigating uneven floor types. Contrary to Roomba models outside of the 900 Series, the Roomba 980 navigates each space methodically and with straighter paths, largely due to the advanced onboard camera. Dyson is possibly most noted for their line of cordless shark cordless stick vacuums, the V-Series stick models including the V6, V7, V8, and V10. In addition the Dyson 360 eye, Dyson also offers an impressive collection of handheld, stick, upright, and canister models. Click here for a complete review of allDyson vacuum reviews. This series includes cordless stick vacuums, that also double as 2-in-1 handheld vacuums.

The EufyHome app is as intuitive as we would like, and – once we switched our router to the correct bandwidth (it only likes 2.4GHz) – we were able to connect, control, add schedules and do spot-cleans with ease. It will create a map of your home, but unlike the Roborock, you can’t then create virtual barriers. The G30 Edge (£230) is a dinky little cleaner that does a good job tackling the dusty tumbleweeds.

Sugar tests seem to be one area that robot vacuums consistently have trouble with. If the V-Series is intriguing to you, you may want to check out our fullDyson V10 cordless stick vacuum review. It’s got more power than even the V8 and is the only Dyson which scored 100% on thehardwood cleaning test, similar to the Roomba 980 or Roomba 960 model. Regarding cleaning, the Dyson V6 had similar results to the Dyson V8—87% of debris captures on hardwood floors, 94% captured on low pile carpet, and 92% captured on high pile carpet. In short, I would have to give it to the Roomba lineup here. Dyson makes a fantastic vacuum, there’s no doubt about that, but it is possible that robot vacuums are simply outside of the Dyson wheelhouse.

About a decade ago, artificial neural networks began to be applied to a wide variety of semistructured data that had previously been very difficult for computers running rules-based programming to interpret. Rather than recognizing specific data structures, an artificial neural network is able to recognize data patterns, identifying novel data that are similar to data that the network has encountered before. Indeed, part of the appeal of irobot vacuum cleaner artificial neural networks is that they are trained by example, by letting the network ingest annotated data and learn its own system of pattern recognition. For neural networks with multiple layers of abstraction, this technique is called deep learning. Acing our pick-up tests on carpet and hard floors, this is a reliable investment. It’s self-emptying and can store up to 60 days’ worth of dust into its accompanying docking station.

For Roomba vs. Dyson, I would put theRoomba 690orRoomba 650about on par with the Dyson V6. These vacuums are ideal for small spaces or areas where expansive navigation is not really a concern. The 360 Eye’s continuous track wheels are designed to be able to handle different floor types and obstacles more easily than standard wheels. Its tank-like tracks make it better able to traverse different kinds of floors, Dyson promises, while the full-width brush eliminates the need for side brushes.

Also added are dirt detection sensors that ensure the area being cleaned are actually free of dirt and debris. On top of controlling cleaning schedules from your smartphone, you can also control the settings of the actual device. Basically, no need to get on your hands and knees and mess with tiny buttons.

Once put on the right path, they can lessen the load of endless house chores, which is a boon in a pandemic or out of one. I was especially impressed with the Roomba’s ability to squeeze into areas where I normally wouldn’t vacuum, like inside the coat closet and underneath my bed. I concluded that assigning specific rooms to the robots was the sweet spot for people like me who work from home. So the next time I stepped out to take my dogs for a walk or went to the grocery store, I instructed the Roomba to vacuum the bedroom and the Braava Jet to mop the kitchen.
