EGO Powerload String Trimmer with Carbon Fiber Shaft

Overall, the Ryobi’s performance on a full charge was in the middle of the pack—just over half of what the Egos accomplished on a full charge. And in patches of really thick, tall grass, the Ryobi trimmer head occasionally got wound up in the grass or just pushed it over instead of cutting it. And the Ryobi couldn’t sever the Japanese knotweed stalks as efficiently as the Egos.

Replacement string trimmer head is exclusively compatible with the EGO POWER+ POWERLOAD™ String Trimmer (model ST1520S & ST1520). The EGO POWER+ Backpack Link adds more run time and less weight to your EGO tools. The Backpack Link is a universal system allowing the user to put the weight of any EGO battery on your back rather than on the tool or in your hand for convenience. No complaints when it comes time to replace the string since it feeds easily thanks to the Powerload feature, which automatically winds the replacement string with the press of a button .

As I recall, the only pain in the is their convoluted product registration process, and customer service requires a speaker phone and a Netflix movie to watch. They supposedly have greenworks pro a call-back option, but that never works. Once I got through, though, the issue was resolved. The charger has small red and green lights that tell the battery’s condition.

Then press the POWERLOAD button and watch it wind into the head. It winds slowly enough so that there is little chance of the string disappearing greenworks pro completely into the head requiring you to start over. Loading string is now something I look forward to instead of dreading.

You might think that almost all trimmers do this trick and you would be correct, But not all trimmers are this quiet and vibration-free. In fact, I when I began using it, I worried if it was operating at full power because it was so quiet. The EGO Power+ 15” POWERLOAD String Trimmer is just that—a trimmer. Mentally, I still call trimmers weed wackers, but I think that’s a brand name so “trimmer” it is.

The good news is that it’s easy to hear the motor bog down when it’s struggling. In these cases, we could try to cut the weeds down with a slower approach. The Ego’s power is as impressive as its run time, and none of the other trimmers we tested could match its sheer cutting strength. While trimming in the field or on the Los Angeles hillside, we never had to stop, hesitate, or even slow down when using the Ego.

I can clean up my tree patch (roughly a 1/3 acre) with my echo in one battery charge and it’s a 58V 4AH kit. Did a lot of research before buying into their system because I have some Dewalt 20V stuff but I’m not a fan of their OPE. Makita would have been my second choice for home use. The long service time is a well-known issue within the community.
