From the workhorse chef’s knife, to the delicate paring knife, to the serrated bread knife, each fulfills certain roles in the kitchen. Each Cuisinart knife is made from durable stainless steel and has a ceramic coating that prevents food from sticking to the blade. Shoppers even say the Cuisinart knives are better than professional alternatives due to their sharp blades that cut “like razors.” The report includes verified and revalidated market figures such as CAGR, gross margin, revenue, price, production growth rate, volume, value, market share, and Y-o-Y growth.
Compare that to one batch that required three and a half minutes of extra hand-kneading. To see how well they could handle the task, we made two-thirds of a batch of Kenji’s New York–Style Pizza Dough in each work bowl. First, we attempted to combine the dry ingredients with just four pulses. The Magimix was the only machine to complete this with a dough blade, while others required either additional pulses or, in many cases, the intervention of a spatula to stir things around.
Interestingly, our winning Cuisinart—the model that didn’t have a dough blade and instead called for using the S-style metal blade—successfully incorporated the dry ingredients, too. The more expensive machines, and all of our winners, have induction motors. This means less friction, heat, noise, and mechanical wear.
The Breville Sous Chef fell just behind the Magimix in core performance, but it made up for it in capacity and intelligent design. It comes with a battery of well-designed attachments, including an adjustable slicing blade that’s capable of producing a wide range of thicknesses. It’s also incredibly intuitive to assemble and use, and, despite its size, it was nearly the quietest model we tested.
It seems the Classic Nonstick Edge Collection 7-piece set could satisfy a small kitchen with limited chopping needs. If you require something with a bit more oomph, this set is probably not for you. The bottom line is that if you are looking for professional-grade knives, these are most likely not the knives for you.
This Cuisinart option can evenly slice bread, meat, poultry, and more with its micro-serrated blade that works for both right- and left-handed cooks. The set comes with a bamboo cutting board and a stainless steel carving fork for all your holiday turkey or chicken carving needs. The Cuisinart Advantage 12 Piece Color Knife Set includes 6 stainless steel all-purpose knives with colorful non-stick coatings and blade guards. The non stick surface helps keep foods from clinging to the super sharp stainless steel blades and color coding helps avoid cross contamination during food prep. Many of the food processors available today seem to justify their price tag by offering a parade of attachments designed for ever-more-specific tasks.
You either have to memorize which color is which blade, keep the package handy, or take a photo to identify the different knife edges. Brightly colored and coated in ceramic around a stainless steel core, the Advantage series is Cuisinart’s most specialized. That’s because gotham steel cookware sets the colors aren’t just meant for decoration. They’re a way of helping you to avoid cross-contamination, by keeping each knife for a dedicated purpose. Once more based on the Cuisinart Classic design, the Nitrogen series reimagines the handles for a more ergonomic grip.
We would have liked to see a smaller serrated knife included with this set, perhaps in place of the utility knife. For this price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any major brand that can compete. The closest competitor is Victorinox, though their Fibrox Pro chef knife still comes in at nearly twice the price of a Cuisinart chef knife. Riveted handles like those of the Classic series add both weight and durability. The hammered finish of the Artisan series helps ingredients to slide off of your knife rather than stick to it. That’s because of the small air pockets that are created, making for smoother and easier cuts.
