Cuisinart Clermont Pellet Grill & Smoker Review

Obviously, great attention was paid to the designing of this grill. Unfortunately, the same attention isn’t being applied to the manufacture. This is too much grill for the price and quality suffers. I really want to like this grill, I just don’t believe it will last very long. I do also like the built-in cuisinart pots and pans set surrounding work surface, which could be very handy for food prep and the sear zone is a good feature to have. I mean, I can’t remember ever seeing a such a tall pellet smoker before, and the design of this high-end unit is stunning as well. Despite the great features, this is a large, big-box pellet grill that sells for $700USD. Despite the 233 pounds that this grill weighs, the quality is limited.

We loved the WiFIRE app functionality, which made it easy to adjust probe and grill temperatures while also keeping an eye on the percentage of pellets left in the hopper. It seemed outdated compared to some of the grills in the test group, and it was hard to read after sitting out in the sun for hours. The idea behind the Clermont was to create a multifaceted pellet grill, covering all the needs of backyard cooking, while appealing to the hardcore barbecue enthusiast. As with all Cuisinart’s grilling products we strive to be user friendly, easy clean, interactive, and visually pleasing.

I’ve tested over three dozen grills over the years for Reviewed, so I’ve learned a thing or two about what works (and what doesn’t). With so much money at stake, we wanted to help you find the right pellet grill for your backyard, so we spent a full week cooking on each pellet grill. After the smoke had cleared, we found ourselves with a solid winner and a few quality back-ups if our main pick is out-of-stock. This smaller unit cycles the air within about 500 square feet twice hourly and within 250 square feet four times hourly.

I had some issues with the pellet sensor going off when I still had pellets…but I have a beta model. If you still have problems, you can disable that feature. I love that the 12″ control panel has bright, bold numbers. When I’m not using the app, I can view the readings from across the backyard, which gives me peace of mind. The pellet hopper holds 40 pounds of pellets and includes an interior light.

Most pellet grills are designed similar to a traditional offset smoker. They include one maybe two racks of cooking space with a lid that lifts up. We also didn’t love the touch-sensitive buttons on the digital control panel. They were difficult to push, so we used the Bluetooth-enabled app to adjust the grill whenever possible. Finally, the pellets ran down the auger unevenly, causing us to get a low-pellet alert when the hopper was more than half full. Most notably, the open design is ripe to start grease fires after smoking fatty meats like brisket or pulled pork one day and cranking it up to 500°F to sear the next.
