These can then be uploaded or shared on social media instantly. It’s also pretty easy to fly, and you can do so with either your smartphone or the included remote. There’s no ActiveTrack on the Mini, which is a bummer, but it’s to be expected that DJI would save some advanced features for its higher-end models. Many micro drones suffer from being less sturdy and more prone to damage. But the DJI Mavic Mini SE is quite durable, with an upgraded wind resistance of up to 37.8 km/h.
From a portability point of view, this drone is in a league of its own. Firstly, its four prop arms fold in to create a package no larger in width and length than an iPhone 11. And even when in flight mode with dji mini 2 fly more combo arms extended and propellers fitted, it’s just 245mm in width, 289mm in length and 56mm in height. When folded, even with the collapsible props in situ, it will easily fit into an outdoor jacket pocket.
The app will then check firmware compatibility automatically. After attaching the 360° Propeller Guard, the aircraft will weigh more than 250 dji drones grams. This means that in some countries and regions, you may need to obtain a related license when flying with this accessory attached.
This makes it exceptionally portable and places it in the lowest and safest weight class of drones, which in many countries may exempt it from certain regulations. First, there are front-facing sensors for avoiding obstacles, a feature missing from the Mini series thus far. The Mini SE is rated to have a maximum speed of 46.8 kph and a maximum flight time of 30 minutes. Although its top speed is a little lower compared to the Mini 2, the two drones are supposed to fly well up to a maximum wind speed of 37.8 kph or Level 5 winds. The Mini SE can take off from a maximum altitude of only 3000 meters, which is slightly lower than the 400-meter limit of the Mini 2. The Mini 2’s motors are upgraded to be both more powerful and power efficient, pushing the rated battery life from 30 to 31 minutes. It’s a modest bump, and still shy of the 34-minute rating you get with the pricier DJI Mavic Air 2, a drone that’s best-in-class when it comes to flight time. One final thing I found odd for drone aimed at beginners is that images taken for panoramas aren’t stitched together, or synthesized, in the aircraft.
As soon as the light drops, though, so too does the Mini 2’s usable zoom range. The first thing to note about the DJI Mini 2’s video is that it’s rock-steady in all but the windiest conditions — mighty impressive for such a dinky drone. With level five wind resistance, a blustery London skyline was child’s play. The drone’s battery isn’t the only cell worth talking about. The Mini 2’s 5,200mAh controller battery is huge, lasts for ages and takes a couple of hours to power up. As for buttons, there’s a Fn button set to one-press vertical axis pans by default, a mode switch, and buttons for landing and power.
DJI also claims this particular drone can withstand wind speeds up to 24mph, thanks in part to upgraded motors. Not much has changed when it comes to the overall design of the Mini 2. If not for the ‘4K’ lettering imprinted on the camera and a ‘Mini 2’ logo on the top left-hand arm of the vehicle, it would be difficult to tell them apart. Our biggest gripes with the Mavic Mini are the fewer smart modes at its disposal, along with the core camera features it’s missing and a slightly flakey video stream over WiFi connectivity.
For example, I can fit the G-Wiz Vault in a Lowepro Flipside 400. I plan to get some propeller guards to put in the front pocket of the Flipside 400. As for the transmission tech, the Mini 2 doesn’t rely on Wi-Fi communication. With OcuSync 2.0, phantom 4 dual-frequency transmission automatically alternates between channels to prevent signal interference between the remote and drone. While that’s impressive, it is important to keep the drone within your visual line of sight at all times.
Displays all important information related to the flight. To summarize, these are the key attributes of the DJI Mini 2 controller. To better understand why this is, let’s look at its features. Today I was thinking about what are the most popular drones on the market.
