The idea is that they first need to build a series of pathways through this 11.5 acre island which is — truth be told — only just-slightly-above-Florida’s-already-high-water-table. They also have to create sites where — eventually — recreation of the Benbow Inn & Ben Gun’s Cave will be built. The Love Bug would eventually find his way into a Disney theme park, though. How many of you remember — as you were experiencing the Backstage Tram Tour at Disney-MGM Studios — how you’d encounter Herbie popping a wheelie and then revving his edge / blowing out clouds of exhaust as he sat in a driveway on Residential Street. One particular concern was making sure that the cast of “Toy Story” didn’t get too big.
Which is supposed to open in March of 2005 and then be one of the spotlighted aspects of Disneyland Park’s 50th anniversary celebration. Which is when the Imagineers — as they were putting together proposals for a dark ride to possible add to Paradise Pier’s meager assortment of rides, shows & attractions — went into this project looking for ways to economize. Creative short cuts that would then allow them to deliver a popular character-based ride at a bargain basement development cost.
However, over the Paradise Pier portion of this theme park, with the exception of King Triton’s Carousel of the Sea … Well, that side of DCA had no characters. Now you have to remember that 2001 was a year when The Walt Disney Company was dealing with a lot of problems. Especially when it came to the theme park & resorts side of things. In February of that same year, Disney’s California Adventure radio flyer wagon opened at the Disneyland Resort and almost immediately underwhelmed theme park fans. Then seven months after that came 9/11 … And — for at least six months or so — attendance levels at Disney Parks worldwide plummeted because people were afraid to get on airplanes for a while there. Lasseter owns a collection of more than 1,000 Hawaiian shirts and wears one every day. Lasseter also inherited his late father’s passion for cars; besides having directed two films about them, he watches auto races at frozen ride on toy Sonoma Raceway near his home and collects classic cars, of which one of his favorites is his black 1952 Jaguar XK120. He has won two Academy Awards, for Animated Short Film , as well as a Special Achievement Award .
The book covered the history of Disney animation and explored the making of Disney’s 1959 film Sleeping Beauty, which made Lasseter realize he wanted to do animation himself. When he saw Disney’s 1963 film The Sword in the Stone, he finally made the decision that he should become an animator. He then read Preston Blair’s book about animation, and made flipbooks based on Blair’s walk cycles. One of his friends had a Super 8 camera that shot single frames, which was used to shoot some of his earlier animation efforts. Frozen 2 hits theaters on Nov. 22 and promises a new adventure featuring, of course, Elsa and Anna, as well as beloved Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven. According to IMDB, kids’ favorite characters will leave Arendelle to “travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land” where they “set out to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom.”
