If you purchase the bin as an accessory, the robot sometimes has trouble settling itself properly on the base station’s air ports when it docks. I also perform regular maintenance to make sure that the self-emptying chutes on both the station and the robot vacuum itself aren’t clogged. They’re worth it, but they do require some extra work here and there.
The “everyday” prices are a bit high, but we’ve seen some pretty good deals on the version of the Shark that comes with the self-emptying dock. Since we know laser-nav bots are all pretty similar to one another, this Shark could be a good choice if you see it on sale. Another side effect of the Roomba i3’s approach is that it’s relatively slow compared with bots with smart mapping features. In our experience, the Roomba i3 takes about 75 minutes to clean 1,000 square feet . In spaces larger than that, the bot may have to pause in the middle of cleaning to go recharge itself for 90 minutes at a time, before it picks up where it left off.
But Roomba is designed to clean once a day rather than once a week, which means the first run takes a while because the bin is small and has to be emptied several times. Just like it doesn’t require stops to charge up, it also manages to clean my entire space with just one bin. There’s a lot more room in here thanks to the new design, and it handles even my dog’s hair with ease (my dog sheds a lot, and it’s very obvious light hair against dark wood floors). After vacuuming, use the S6 MaxV to wet mop with plain water only – water flow can be adjusted through the app, and the reusable mop cloth is washable. Using no-mop zones can prevent your carpet from being mopped, although it’s tricky to set the zone for an area rug.
And since the 11S stops short of most obstacles, it also avoids creating many of the bonking impact noises that the rougher Roomba 694 does. Other basic Eufy models have slightly stronger suction bissell crosswave cordless and can be a couple decibels louder, but they are still quieter than most competitors. There are also a few workarounds to get the Roomba i3 to clean a smaller space in a given session.
Its defining feature is supposed to be its strong suction, with two turbines pulling 2,000 pascals each (whereas most laser-nav bots have a single turbine and less than 2,500 pascals of suction total). That’s fine, but it’s still a tiny fraction of the suction you’d get from a traditional vacuum and only makes the X8 a marginally better cleaner than a much more affordable robot, like the Roborock S4 Max. The older Eufy RoboVac L70 is still available as well, but its app is not capable of permanently remembering specific rooms in your home, which makes it substantially less convenient than most current laser-nav bots. Wyze is known for selling good-enough and implausibly affordable smart-home gear like security cameras, locks, thermostats—and the laser-nav Wyze Robot Vacuum too.
Pair with our handheld for a whole-home clean in our most stylish bundle yet. The iRobot Roomba 880 costs £600, which is at least £300 more than most other normal vacuum cleaners. The spinning bush and central suction band do a solid job of cleaning even the edges of a room. Some spots that Roomba can’t reach will need to be cleaned with a handheld vacuum – including stairs – but overall the cleaning is quite impressive. The ‘+’ in the S9+ is that Clean Base as I mentioned – think of it like the tower of lazy cleanliness. The base has a port that sucks dirt from the S9 when it’s done a run, shooting it into a bag in the top of the tower that can hold up to 30 full bins of dirt.

At the end of its life, a Roomba battery or the entire machine can be safely recycled through local electronics/battery recycling programs or through Roomba’s recycling partners in the U.S. and around the world. In time for the holiday season, retailers across the board have expanded their return policies, giving eligible purchases made between November to December 31 a return window until the end of January 2022.
Just like the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI it can also detect carpet, and when it does will stop mopping to ensure your floor coverings don’t end up sopping wet. Just press Clean or schedule Roomba on the go to oosen, lift, and suction dirt, dust, and hair from your hard floors and carpet. Our recommendations above are what we think are currently the best robot vacuums for most people.
Robot vacuums can be messy to maintain, but Roomba’s double rubber roller brushes didn’t clog with pesky pet hair like bristle brushes did and its automatic dirt disposal system makes clean work of emptying the dust cup. Once cleaning is complete, Roomba returns to its charging base and the dirt it has collected is automatically transferred from the robot into the bag-lined dustbin without you having to touch the mess. Its large-capacity bags will last through multiple cleaning sessions and seal completely before you toss them so dust and dirt is contained. Unfortunately, like most robot vacuums, many parts need regular cleaning or replacing, so recurring costs can add up over time.
The following table is a cheat sheet of the most popular Eufy bump bots as of November 2021 (though it’s not a full list of all their models). If you only need to vacuum a few rooms at a time, and you’re looking to save a few bucks, consider the Roomba 694, or really any model from the 600 series. The Roomba i3 is also a better cleaner than most robot vacuums—at any price.
