Superb on the hottest of days, a dry lemon that lasts, with the green woody scent of citrus leaves and stems. It’s extremely fresh and there’s nothing sweet or aquatic in it. It’s also very far from the “green tea” scents that were so fashionable in recent times.This fragance is genuinely green and this is a category where very few have succeeded. This one did in the 1970s and it’s still a classic. I was met with a delightful, fresh and cheerful blend of honeysuckle, various herbs/spices, jasmine and mild citrus notes.
This reminds me of vintage Diorella, but O is fresher, brighter, sunnier, and the dry down doesn’t have that “rotting meat” sort of smell that I get from Diorella. The opening is a bright, super fresh citrus with just a hint of sweetness to it to keep it from being too sour, like you just put a lemon slice directly in your mouth. It’s like a spritz of cool water on your face when you’re hot. This part fades fast , but it turns into something quite lovely and unexpected from a citrus scent – just going to show this comes from a different age.
