Thanks to Action, I am able to experience this fragrance from a vintage miniature bottle which happily has not spoiled. About 30 years ago my favourite aunt used to wear this fragrance. A couple of years later I finally was able to afford a O de Lancome myself. I always felt very special, pretty and grown up while wearing it. What happens during the next hour or two is fantastic. I’m not terribly good at discerning notes, but something in the final phase of “O” (is that the oakmoss or the sandalwood?) creates a delicate, round, very classic cloud of scent .
I would say this is a summer fragrance. Simply the best unisex classic summer citrus herbal fragrance ever created. A well balanced citrus that drys down to fresh, almost a metallic cool herbal with a hint of lily of the valley.

I love this gorgeous, intoxicating smell, fresh and lemony but sophisticated like a citrus cocktail including the scents of jasmine and honeysuckle. Very powerful when first applied and it lasts hours on me which I love. The dry down is still zesty and invigorating. I have a sample of this that says “” on the label, and I have no idea how old it is, but vintage is exactly how it smells. I love the opening and early heart, which has some really lovely, natural citrus notes, fresh at first and then a little sweeter later on. At this point, I agree with justfloral below who calls this a more feminine version of Eau d’Orange Verte by Hermès .

When I wear this, I feel like a very sexy woman. PS I saw a giant bottle, as described in that article; on sale outside a dept store in the early 90s. Like a bigfoot sighting; I’ve never seen one again & cannot find anything like it on the net. O de Lancome by Lancome is a Citrus fragrance for women. The nose behind this fragrance is Robert Gonnon. Top notes are Lemon, Bergamot, Honeysuckle and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Basil, Rosemary, Coriander and Jasmine; base notes are Oakmoss, Vetiver and Sandalwood.
Someone mentioned the scent as herbal and that is very accurate. On opening, the citrus is there but the herbal and woodsy scents are more noticeable. It’s almost medicinal and a bit sharp to me for the first little while and but it does soften as it settles in. At that point it develops a bit of masculine cologne vibe. After a few hours it becomes a warm spicy vanilla scent that I absolutely love. Still has a hint of men’s fragrance but it’s sooo good!
This reminds me forcibly of my Italian grandparents herb garden,growing from baking earth, fragrant in a summer sun. Very classy, very longlasting when you consider that it is still a citrus fragrance, it’s more green than citrus to me, with a wonderful dry-down. O’ de Lancome is almost like a Eau Fraiche Homme version of the great Carven classic.
