Schwinn Ic3 Indoor Cycling Exercise Bike

The Schwinn IC4 comes with a small LCD display and it syncs to the device of your choice with a Bluetooth connection for use with the Peloton, Zwift, and Explore the World apps. Thanks to the LCD display, this bike can be used on its own without an app or connection to your device, a feature that we feel gives it a leg up on some of the connected/smart bike competition. When connected to an app, your tablet or phone serve as a screen that displays the studio workout or interactive ride. As with all types of home gym equipment, there are a variety of indoor spin bikes available, and if you’re not exactly sure what you’re looking for, your options can be a little overwhelming. When riding on Zwift, your power will be estimated via the speed/cadence sensor in conjunction with the resistance level.

Keep in mind you do have to pay a separate monthly subscription fee if you want to use the Peloton app with your exercise bike. Although the Schwinn IC4 doesn’t have a large connected monitor to view programming on, like the 22-inch screen on the NordicTrack Commercial S22i, you’re still able to utilize various apps with the bike. The IC4 is able to sync with apps like Peloton digital, Explore the World, and Zwift via Bluetooth connectivity. I’m glad to see that Schwinn has released the Schwinn IC4, which is an upgrade from the brand’s first iteration, the IC3 bike. With the IC4, you get magnetic resistance instead of the friction pads of the IC3 and technology to connect with apps like Peloton and Zwift.

Of course, your power will therefore not increase to reflect added resistance, so unless you pedal harder and faster, the game will slow you down on your mph. However, from my experience, I was still going faster than most people on a smart turbo, by nature of easier pedalling. Available from Fitness Superstore for £949, the bike is almost silent, smooth, comfortable to ride and has some neat features. Plug into any standard outlet to light up the high-resolution LCD screen, which tracks your time, distance, calorie burn and more. This bike measures 41.3 x 21.4 x 55.6 inches, and holds up to 300 pounds of weight. The upright design means it can accommodate the widest range of heights on our list, comfortably seating someone up to 6′ 6″.

The USB port is an awesome add-on for a bike that requires the use of a separate device. I love being able to charge my phone or tablet while completing a ride without the worry of my device dying mid-ride. Unfortunately, mongoose bicycles some Android users noticed a lag between the metrics on the LCD display and their connected device. I did not personally experience this problem while using my Apple device but it is still something to be aware of.

The Schwinn 800IC is also compatible with the Explore the World app, Zwift, and the Peloton App. While it’s a little heavier than some similar models , the transporting wheels make it easy to move around a room or put into storage. Double link pedals with SPD and toe-clip combination help to ensure a comfortable and secure fit while pedaling. Estimate the monthly payment amount of a purchase using our easy Payment Calculator. Simply enter the purchase amount, select the desired period, then calculate.

With my current setup, I’m only able to view my heart rate and cadence on-screen during rides, not my output like Peloton bike users are able to see. Some Schwinn IC4 riders use the Kinetic app to track their output levels during rides, though I have not tested that myself. Like the Peloton bike, there’s an adjustable knob between the seat and the handlebars that controls the resistance, which ranges from levels 1 to 100.

This versatility gives the IC4 a leg up on the competition in this metric. Unlike Peloton and Echelon Connect bikes, there’s no video screen built into the Schwinn IC4—just a small LCD display that shows your ride time, distance, RPMs, and heart rate, plus a USB charging port. You can also use your smartphone, but we think a bigger screen makes for a more enjoyable experience.
