Using a coin in the slot at the end, you can slide out the brush to cut away any hair that has become wrapped around its centre, although Dyson doesn’t provide a tool to do this. There are handy grooves in the bar, though, so slipping in a pair of scissors to cut away any mess is easy enough. Compact, powerful cleaning with Ball™ technology to easily navigate under furniture and around obstacles.
You can split your home up into zones and rooms, too, using the app to select the options and vacuum power mode you want to use on each. To help it get around Dyson has irobot vacuum cleaner ditched wheels in favour of powerful tank tracks. These have the advantage of being able to cover almost any surface without leaving wheel marks on hard surfaces.
For comparison, iRobot’s Roomba 980 with visual navigation also costs £800, while bump-navigation robot vacuums start at around £150 and up. There are signs that Dyson has a new robot vacuum cleaner launch on the horizon. There’s no official word out from the brand but some details have already emerged. As we’ve mentioned, this isn’t Dyson’s first robot vacuum, but it could be the first for the US. The 360 Hyperdymium follows up the previous models, the 360 Eye and 360 Heurist, except it’s flatter and wider.
Each time this has happened, the vacuum has finished the job nicely after I relocated it, but it’s still something that would prevent setting it while I was out of the house and guaranteeing a thorough clean. The squat little cylinder of a bot first broke cover in September 2014, with a splashy product announcement and a consumer launch in Japan in 2015. North American homes are only just getting their first taste of Dyson’s inaugural foray into robotics, however, and my own has been playing host to one for the past couple of weeks.
Dyson’s robot vacuum is the best robot vacuum I’ve used, hands down. It cleaned my whole house, including medium pile carpet, area rugs, hardwood floors and hard tile , and it handled oodles of dog hair with relative ease. You can get robot vacuums with even lower suction power, around 1000Pa, but you’d be sacrificing the quality of clean for a short term saving. We’d recommend looking to the more powerful models when the time is right for you instead. Robot vacuum cleaners are designed to vacuum everyday or at least several times a week, which means that out-and-out cleaning power doesn’t matter as much. The regular cleaning never lets it get to particularly bad levels, and if you spill something you’re more likely to get out a vacuum then and there and clear it up rather than leave it for the robot.
