Wind Vintage is teaming up with Tracksmith for an exclusive line of vintage stopwatches. Each model has a list price of 13,500 JPY along with tax. Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view the current time and date. A slide lever makes it easy to attach and remove the band — a very handy feature for cleaning and other maintenance.

There’s something else notable about the case, and that’s the Carbon Core Guard tech that’s incorporated. The case is constructed with a thin layer of carbon fiber in order to bolster its strength so the overall amount of material used in the case can be decreased, without sacrificing any sort of material strength. The Carbon Core Guard doesn’t change the feeling on the wrist, but it does inspire a sense of confidence that the watch would be fine even if it were run over by a car.

The GA-2100, on the other hand, with its octagonal shape, is easy and comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time. The reason for this, I think, is that the top and bottom of the watch are significantly more narrow than the wide middle section. The watch feels small at the most sensitive parts of the wrist, but expands g shock watch in its mid-section. It’s similar to wearing an oval watch, like a Patek Philippe Ellipse. Part of this is an illusion – the strap starts tapering almost immediately, making the horizon of the north and south poles of the GA-2100 disappear along with it. Still, that optical effect has a real impact on the wearing experience.

It’s made using the label’s Core Guard technology – meaning it provides superior shock resistance through use of carbon fibre – and comes with the black octagonal bezel for the retro look. Allowing you to customise the look, it comes fitted with an interchangeable strap, and to finish, it’s water resistant for up to 200 metres. From G-SHOCK, the toughness watches that continue to evolve in search of ultimate strength, this digital-analog combination model inherits the concept of the first-generation DW-5000C models, while being even thinner.

The watch is comfortable, and stylish, but , well, you get the picture. It protects the module by enclosing it in a carbon case. The developers pursued a thinner design while still satisfying the original G-SHOCK criteria for shock resistance.

Fast forward to today, and the GA-2100 line hits the scene — the timeless spirit of toughness of those two epoch-making models, fused cutting-edge technologies to create timepieces like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The watch is made to take a beating and can handle shocks and bangs without any issues. The performance is exceptional, the design is modern and clean, and despite its large size, it wears exceptionally comfortably on the wrist. With that said, using the light, legibility won’t be an issue.

Look, I’m not saying you can pair this with “black tie” and come off looking clever. But there is certainly more scope to wear this in a business environment. The Rolex GMT-Master II is often seen as ideal “business attire” and yet it is no more graceful than this model on the wrist (certainly not the modern versions, that’s for sure). So is this model a more “grown-up” version of the resin model? I’m not so sure I’d use that term (although itseems like low-hanging fruit to do so).

If you wear this watch out in a public place, someone is going to comment on the fact that it’s red. You’ll notice people’s eyes gazing at it awkwardly, probably assuming it’s a new smart watch, or maybe assuming that you’re Meek Mill. The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available. The GA A and red GA A are also mostly sold out. Some of these models may be more readily available in some countries in regions like Southeast Asia, but beware of fakes at unauthorized shops and online. Also, there are some online scams involving the GA A1 and other popular G-Shock models, where some e-commerce websites end up shipping a completely different model.
