There’s something else notable about the case, and that’s the Carbon Core Guard tech that’s incorporated. The GA-2100, on the other hand, with its octagonal shape, is easy and comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time. The reason for this, I think, is that the top and bottom of the watch are significantly more narrow than the wide middle section. The watch feels small at the most sensitive parts of the wrist, but expands g shock watch in its mid-section. It’s similar to wearing an oval watch, like a Patek Philippe Ellipse. Part of this is an illusion – the strap starts tapering almost immediately, making the horizon of the north and south poles of the GA-2100 disappear along with it. Still, that optical effect has a real impact on the wearing experience.
It’s made using the label’s Core Guard technology – meaning it provides superior shock resistance through use of carbon fibre – and comes with the black octagonal bezel for the retro look. Allowing you to customise the look, it comes fitted with an interchangeable strap, and to finish, it’s water resistant for up to 200 metres. Look, I’m not saying you can pair this with “black tie” and come off looking clever. But there is certainly more scope to wear this in a business environment. The Rolex GMT-Master II is often seen as ideal “business attire” and yet it is no more graceful than this model on the wrist (certainly not the modern versions, that’s for sure). So is this model a more “grown-up” version of the resin model? I’m not so sure I’d use that term (although itseems like low-hanging fruit to do so).
If you wear this watch out in a public place, someone is going to comment on the fact that it’s red. You’ll notice people’s eyes gazing at it awkwardly, probably assuming it’s a new smart watch, or maybe assuming that you’re Meek Mill. The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available. The GA A and red GA A are also mostly sold out. Some of these models may be more readily available in some countries in regions like Southeast Asia, but beware of fakes at unauthorized shops and online.
