I just wish it lasted longer on me hours max. Otherwise, this would be a definite must have. Turns into a skinscent almost immediately.
She used to wear this, and it smelled amazing on her – a beautiful sillage of vanilla and anise, almost reminiscent of French candies, would follow her everywhere. I tested this Lancome makeup fragrance in 2005 when it first came out. It almost smelled good, but there was a suffocating quality to it. There was an aura of anise or licorice that overwhelmed me.
It really is a shame how essentially all fragrances now are significantly weaker than they were 10/20+ years ago. I’ve only been alive 18 years, but I had a vintage Le Male bottle that Estee Lauder NIGHT REPAIR was a million times stronger than current formulations. One of the best perfumes from Lancome. I used to wear this in the university and everyone was asking me the name of the perfume.
I’m glad I found this years ago in search of that warm rich elegant vanilla. It’s been a lovely addition to my collection. I had a sample made for me by a Lancome SA. This and Bottega Veneta are the only two fragrances I haven’t been able to smell very well. I must not be able to smell a note these two fragrances have in common.
The longevity is about half a day. I tried multiple perfumes from Thierry Wasser, and I have to say that my nose and his just simply don’t agree. Hypnose is to me a cool and peaceful vanilla. That together with the fruity passion flower makes it creamy, feminine and bewitching while still letting me rest and keep my sanity. This is a scent that I recognize when someone wearing it passes me by. I thought I was bored with Hypnose, but after using it again for the first time in about a year I feel like I want to wear it more often.
Synthetics are what they are, and especially lovely to wear during the chilly spring months. It feels like they shield the wearer from the weather, unlike for example chypres. This one is sickeningly, syrupy sweet.
