“The coffee from this maker is wonderful,” another reviewer wrote. Use fresh, cold, filtered water to brew your pot for better taste and a cleaner machine. The button around the clock includes separate hour and minute controls – handy for both setting the clock and the auto program mode for a delayed brew time.
This affects storage of the machine, too; because the carafe lid and the brew basket don’t both fit into the hardware at the same time, there’s always one piece loose. The BrewSense doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles compared to some of the machines we tested, and that functional ease helped elevate it to the top of our list. You could unbox this machine, flush it through with water once, and be drinking a freshly brewed cup within 15 minutes, all without reading the manual. Brewing is also a nearly silent process, which can be pleasing on early mornings.
After more than 30 hours researching dozens of tea steepers, and drinking tea made in 15 infusers, teapots, and travel mugs over the past two years, we found that the Finum Brewing Basket is the best option. OXO’s cold-brew maker has the best-looking design, plus some clever aspects that make it easier to pour from and to store. The Espro P3 is not as visually appealing as some other French presses, like the Bodum Chambord, with its classic stylings. But we didn’t find the Espro to be that much harder to clean than any other French press, and we think the results are worth any of these tradeoffs. The Espro P3 makes consistently clean, bright, flavorful coffee.
And at around $100 more than our top pick, the KBT is quite pricey for a brewer that lacks user-friendly features like the OXO’s programmable timer and descaling reminders. If you prioritize flavor and just want the smallest, simplest machine possible, get the Bonavita Connoisseur 8-Cup One-Touch Coffee Brewer. This coffee maker, which goes back to the basics, has always won out with coffee professionals in our taste tests. The Connoisseur is easy to use, but it’s missing additional features that make the OXO brewers stand out. It also suffers from a terribly clunky carafe that lacks a brew-through lid—you have to screw on the lid after your coffee has finished brewing. Brews from the OXO 9 Cup Coffee Maker tasted good, if lacking a little of the sweetness and dimension we got from both our other picks, the OXO Brew 8 Cup Coffee Maker and the Bonavita Connoisseur.
The key to a good cup of coffee is even extraction, which means a grinder is the most important piece of gear to splurge on. We recommend the Essenza Mini because it does the job without taking up much space and without unnecessary extras. This potent little machine is fast and easy to use, and it will impress beginners and experienced baristas with its consistent espresso shots and silky frothed milk. After brewing and drinking over 75 pots of coffee, we think the cleverly designed Espro P3 is the best French press for making a bold yet balanced brew.
Before setting the machine up, we soaked the filter in cold water for 15 minutes, as directed. Next, we inserted it into the filter compartment and flushed it by running cold water through the holes in the compartment for 10 seconds. Lastly, we slid the filter holder into the water reservoir on the coffee maker. The manufacturer recommends replacing this water filters every 60 days or after 60 uses. The Cuisinart CPO-850, however, does the work for you yet still delivers the same great beverage. The Zojirushi EC-YTC100XB 10-cup coffee maker brewed coffee at a glacial pace, taking more than 15 minutes to make a full pot.
The Espro’s unique plunger uses two bucket-shaped fine-mesh filters to create a cleaner, more-balanced pot of coffee. The purpose of the Replacement Charcoal Filter is to remove chlorine, calcium and water impurities when brewing with your Cuisinart coffee maker. This is a genuine Cuisinart replacement part for use with specific Coffeemakers. That part consists of Glass Body, Plastic Handle and Lid and a Metal Band.
The water-delivery mechanism leading from the water reservoir to the spray head retains a fair amount of water once it’s done brewing. When you flip up the lid to remove the filter basket, drops of water pour backward out of the spray head and into the basket. If you plan to use the programmable start-time function, make sure to fully air out the filter basket first. If it doesn’t adequately dry out, and you place tomorrow’s dry coffee filter and coffee grounds in it, they begin to get wet right away. Stylish from top to bottom, the OXO Brew 9 Cup Coffee Maker brews better coffee than most of the other machines we tested, and it has a tall carafe that pours easily and keeps coffee hot for hours.

We hate to break it to you, but after spending more than 20 hours researching and testing Keurig machines, we don’t recommend them for anyone. Keurig machines brew expensive coffee that we didn’t find to be particularly strong or tasty. And they often break within warranty, all while taking a toll on the environment. cuisinart griddler elite A Keurig also doesn’t save you much time, shaving just a few minutes off the time it takes to make coffee with other single-cup brewing setups. If you absolutely must get one, the Keurig K-Classic was the best model we tried. We go into further detail in our full review of the machines and their environmental impact.
