Steel Road Bike

In our quest for tube shapes that deliver the fastest frame that the UCI rules allow, we took a page out of the Venge development book and utilized our FreeFoil Shape Library. Armed with a library of optimized shapes, we turned to the Win Tunnel to plug these shapes into a modular test bike, for more testing and validation. A new Tarmac that’s the fastest we’ve tested—45 seconds faster over 40km than the Tarmac SL6 . While aerodynamics were paramount to the Tarmac’s development and to the development of all of our race bikes, weight was the co-pilot on this optimal race bike journey. Previously “aero bikes” always compromised in the weight department—the more drag you reduced, the more weight you gained. With the new Tarmac, our design philosophy was to keep it at, or below, the UCI weight limit out of the box, with no sacrifices to aerodynamics.

If you’re not sure which is right for you, we recommend coming in and trying the various drivetrains to feel how they work for you. It’s also helpful to talk to your friends who ride and see what they recommend since you’ll likely be hitting the road with them and enjoying similar rides. A triple crankset gives you a third, even smaller chainring than what’s on a compact crankset. So, it’s great if you scale steep climbs, carry loads and travel long distances. Even if you don’t use the small chainring all that much, it can be a lifesaver at the end of a long ride when a tough climb stands between you and home. Triple-chainring drivetrains shift slightly more slowly than doubles, which is a consideration if you’re riding for a good time in a century, for example.

With seven wins at Paris-Roubaix, our Roubaix has proven that Smoother is Faster. Until this moment, however, smooth has admittedly come with some compromises. Sure, but don’t call it a comfort bike, because performance was behind every engineering decision we made. This Roubaix huffy mountain bike Comp provides a tremendous value, but like the frame itself, this value doesn’t come with any compromises. – The Future Shock 2.0 is the result of our pro rider’s demands for the cobbles of Roubaix. It’s smoother, faster, and gives you more control via a knob atop the stem.

From World Tour podiums to Sunday morning gravel grinders to epic KOM hunts, our let you add to your personal palmarès with precision aerodynamics, lightweight layup, powerful stiffness, and comfort. The lightest rim and disc brake road bikes you’ll ever ride – now with a new name. It’s not as snappy as the Tarmac when you push on the pedals, but it does an excellent job of smoothing out square edges on the road. Specialized are firm believers that ‘Smoother is Faster’ but so is aero.

KEY PERFORMANCE FACTORS Versatile gravel geometry – All-new gravel-riding geometry features endurance positioning and shorter chainstays. The result is precise handling, agility and control in all situations, from out-of-the-saddle road climbs to fast and rugged dirt road descents. Tuned compliance – An innovative new Contact XR D-Fuse handlebar and D-Fuse seatpost work as a system to help absorb shock without sacrificing the stiffness needed for aggressive road performance. Added frame clearance for high-volume 45c tires help smooth out rough roads, gravel and dirt.
