To celebrate, we upgraded our existing little sedan to an SUV Hybrid with a personalized license plate of Rascal’s name. During Rascal’s first Winter we learned that he LOSES HIS MIND when there is snow on the ground. Rascal has what we like to call ‘Puppy-Snow-Angel-Impulse-Control-Issues’. He has been known to snow-angel his way across a dog park or whatever other horizontal snowy surfaces he can find. This is his first-ever documented snow angel, taken when Rascal was about 4 months old. We welcome ALL dogs—young and old, mixed breed and purebred, healthy and those with chronic illness.

A street dog named Boji has become something of a celebrity in Istanbul, where he travels around the city on its ferries, trams and subway cars. Having said that, we’re all dog lovers and we want to help. Dogs must be on a leash at all times, except in dog runs and designated off-leash areas at the prescribed times. Drop them off in the morning and pick up a happy pup in the evening. Just like people, dogs rely on body gestures, postures and vocalizations to express themselves and communicate. While we can’t always read a dog’s body language accurately, it can give us helpful clues as to whether a dog is feeling stressed, frightened, or threatened. Dogs bite for a variety of reasons, but most commonly as a reaction to something.
While it’s impossible to say exactly how a wild wolf species became a domesticated dog, most scientists believe the process happened gradually as wolves became more comfortable with humans. Perhaps wolves started down this path simply by eating human scraps. Many generations later, humans might have encouraged wolves to stay near by actively feeding them. Later still, those wolves may have been welcomed into the human home and eventually bred to encourage certain traits. All of this is thought to have unfolded over thousands of years.

Contextual, isotopic, genetic, and morphological evidence shows that this dog was not a local wolf. Canis is the Latin word meaning “dog,” and under this genus, he listed the domestic dog, the grey wolf, and the golden jackal.
