My 10-year-old (4’10, 80-pound) had outgrown and worn out her three-year-old 20-inch bike. I couldn’t decide between a 24″ and a 26″ bike, so I went with the 24″. Even with the seat all the way back, it’s a perfect match for my baby, because there’s plenty of space for her to develop on this bike…even my 5’7″ 230 frame could easily ride this bike. While this bike falls short for pro mountain cyclists, it easily takes first place for casual riders and beginners. It has been built using high-quality and affordable parts.
That Huffy bicycles have had a long chequered history is not in doubt. We also know that the company has a knack for producing bikes that others can only dream off. For example, as you shall learn in my huffy mountain bike reviews later in this post, this company’ has some of the best mountain bikes. Huffy mountain bikes shift into gear with ease on tires that handle whichever path you choose to ride.
And thank god for that, especially considering how much cash you’ll be putting down on the bike. If you’re a serious rider, you are going to want to take a look at this beautiful piece of engineering. Combining sturdy alloy frames with the 3-piece Kolo steel crank provides a smooth ride that can handle any terrain you can throw at it. Plus, those large tires will keep you confident in the footing of your ride. Trust in your equipment is always a must when riding the trails. You’ll love the easy-to-use twist shifting with the 18 speeds , the non-compromising linear pull brakes , and the shock-absorbing Kolo 1200 suspension fork.
There is no functional difference between using locking pliers on a nut and using a vise, but I guess I did a lot of big no-no’s in a 20 year career. Frankly the uses you cite for locking pliers seem better suited for a vise. Yet I still feel a 6point socket or an oversized adjustable wrench will do the job quite easily. If else fails get a dremel and cut the nut on opposite sides, on the flats , place an open end – crescent wrench over the two cut sides and give it a spin, it will break the nut. Anyway, here I doubt it’s the case of heavy duty tools, but a socket wrench on 1/2″ system is the best tool for the job. Also bear in mind that the tool means 50% of the job done.
99 Bikes delivers a huge range of men’s, women’s and kids bikes from the biggest Australian and international bike brands. I recieved a flat on my bike a few days ago on just my second ride and I can’t get the nut off of the rear axle wheel . I have the chain on the nearest speed mongoose bmx bike and the patch kit and everything, but the sucker won’t get off! I’m using a standard wrench and tried putting WD40 on it (parent’s advice), but nothing changed. It’s just in my apartment chilling upside down and I have no idea how to get the wheel off to find the air leak.
I had forgot how much nicer these older inexpensive thumb shifters are compared to the inexpensive twist shifters of today. After a good cleaning I might take a couple of pics since it looks like it will cleanup very nice. But service work to all the bearings and such needs to come first. Look for any extras that might make the bicycle more appealing. For example, some bikes come outfitted with a rear rack for optional baskets and panniers.
