It’s medium-large if you will – certainly not a small watch. It comes in multiple styles, but my favorite is the military black. There is also a “regular” black & red Mudman that looks more similar to other G-Shock watches. One important difference to note is that the GA700 is one of the few G-Shocks that come with a front EL backlight button. This model also comes with a hand-shift feature that allows you to move the hands of watch away to read the digital screens for a few seconds. It has no unnecessary features and sticks strictly to the basics.
If you’re on a budget, you won’t find a better compass watch than the G9300 Mudman. Twin Sensor, Solar Power & hands-free backlight make this Mudman one of the top outdoors watches available for the money right now. Same as with the Rangeman above, you need to calibrate your compass for it to work properly. The thermometer will pick up body heat, so keep the watch off your wrist for ~10min before measuring temperature.
It used to be a best-selling model a couple of years back and is still popular. G-Shock GA700 is another oversized model that comes in a 55mm case. The looks are slightly different from the GA110 above, but the watches are nearly identical in their features. G-Shock GX56BB-1″King of G” is the biggest regular G-Shock watch in existence with its massive 56mm diameter case. Out of all G-Shocks, only the high-end Master of G watches are bigger than this model.
Alpha GEL gives the watch extra shock absorption, vibration isolation, and heat dissipation. In case you don’t like the charcoal grey model pictured, the GBA-800 comes in more colors than any other G-Shock I’ve seen. Overall, it is a simple analog G-Shock for around $50 that gets the job done.
Your choice of colorways will dictate how loud or subtle the watch is. These are similar in appearance to many other 1983-based models, but offer specific functionality for surfers with tidal information. They also typically come with smartphone connectivity and steel bezels. One of the most attractive G-SHOCK watches available, suitable for both outdoor adventurers and military personnel. It has an all-digital display that allows this model to make the most of the available display space. The same monitor is vivid and luminous for use in the dark and underwater, and it can accommodate 5 alarms.
It’s also affordable, although you wouldn’t tell that from the looks. The only downside of the watch is that the negative digital screens are hard to see in the darkness, but reading the analog time is not an issue. It’s the first watch that I bought, and after 2 years of wear, it’s still ticking, with no scratches on the screen. Note that the ‘A’ button is more recessed than the other buttons so you won’t accidentally hit it and engage the ‘change time’ mode.
