I do think Casio is onto something here and I’ve mostly enjoyed wearing the GSH-H1000, but I have to think there’s going to be a more broadly appealing G-Shock smartwatch somewhere down the line. Style is, of course, subjective, and I think this watch achieves what it was going for. But if you’re into the subtler, more slimline G-Shocks like the recently popular GA-2100, just know that this very much isn’t that. While it was comfortable enough on my wrist, I’m not sure I could recommend it to people with smaller frames. Better yet, let’s call it the introductory series to other more advanced timepieces that Casio offers. The Casio G-Squad Pro GSW-H1000 comes in red, black and blue colors and will cost $700 in the US and £600 in the UK. It’s set to baby g shock arrive in mid-May, though it’s yet to appear on the US G-Shock website. However, you can find it on the UK site and request to be notified when it arrives. The $700 G-Squad GSW-H1000 lineup has numerous sensors and a rugged design.
Only downside I have found is the light when used at night is only good enough to see the time. So make sure you set your alarm prior to the darkness if you are out camping. Today more than two decades later, G-Shock watches have exceeded the designers’ original benchmark and pushed the limits of what a watch can endure.
The second is the $150 Hotei Limited Edition from the 7 Lucky Gods Collection, which appears fey and airy but is, like all G-Shocks, tough as nails. Also, the Hotei sold out in pre-sale, and is inevitably bound for sale on the nerd-forums for multiples of the original price.
