It helps to let it sit out in the sun for a couple of hours to warm it up and make it more pliable. Now, you might be wondering why we’re touting Intex above ground pools over all the other models on the market. There is obviously more than one type of above ground pool, and Intex boasts several of its own designs. The one you choose will depend on the amount of space you have available, how long you want to leave it up, and the type of use it will get on a daily basis. Now, we don’t often spend a ton of time on one particular brand because most of the time, there are several great products that will do the trick. But in this case, we’re just gonna tell you that you can’t go wrong with Intex for above ground pools.
Grab the new bulkhead and push it through from inside the pool. This should stop a significant amount of the water draining out, but there will still be some leaking out around the new bulkhead. Cut a flap of vinyl and glue it to the inside of the pool and then hang it over the edge. The flap hanging over could easily be secured to the leg with a zip tie, or even a magnet. Intex recommends using pressure treated boards instead of pavers to support the legs on their rectangular pools. The support for the legs needs to be large enough so the legs do not hang off the sides of the support, and so the legs have room to spread out as the pool is filled.
Though not as elegant as some in-ground pools, this Intex has a contemporary appearance that sets it apart from the typical pop-up pool. The exterior is a slate gray color with a matching brushed steel frame. White trim marks the waterline on both the inside and the outside. The interior, like most pools, is checkered white and blue. If you had to clear and level an area for the pool, keep in mind that your backyard might look like an eyesore until you finish the landscaping around it.
Although it comes with a cover, the pool must be broken down and stored during the winter months to avoid damaging the pool. These pools are designed with horizontal and vertical beams connected with a T joint, using legs to prop themselves up for added support. The beams are also powder-coated and rust resistant for increased longevity.
But maybe the most impressive improvement is their filtration system that they upgraded to provide better circulation and water clarity. The Ultra XTR Frame pool is what Intex considers its top-of-the-line model. It has a slew of upgraded materials to be more water-resistant and way more durable.
So if you already know your local water leans one way or the other, you’ll have a better idea of what chemicals to keep on hand. All that’s left to do now is to fill it up with water, attach the intex purespa pump, and add your chemicals . Lastly, fill the pool to an inch or so deep and work on smoothing out any wrinkles on the bottom. It helps to walk around and push the vinyl around with your feet.
Replace the cartridge filter at least once a year, or when you open and close it if you store your pool during the off season. Also replace it when it’s worn, torn, or as recommended by the manufacturer to make sure your water is as clean as it can be. How often you shock depends on how often you use your pool, and the climate you’re living in.
Keep an eye out for dead algae. These blooms are sometimes too small to make it to the filter so they sink to the bottom. If you’re not able to vacuum it all out, try a flocculant that will bind all the small particles together, making them easier to remove. If you add too much, you risk counteracting intex frame pool your chlorine’s effectiveness, not to mention you’ll have to dilute the water and sort of start all over. If you opt for regular ol’ chlorine that doesn’t contain CYA, now is when you’ll need to add some. The easiest way to keep your sanitizer in check is to use an automatic chlorinator.
Both Prism Frame and Ultra XLR frames use stronger alloy compared to Intex’s metal frame pools. The circular models have T joint legs like the round metal frame Intex pools, but the oval and rectangular models need more support and have U-shaped legs. They’re also designed with a light grey exterior to provide contrast to the inner blue lining on the pool. It’s made from durable 3-ply polymer and available in various sizes, and comes with the pool shell, filter pump, hoses, and connection adapters.
But when it comes down to it, the convenience of inflatable and Intex pools doesn’t have to end with the season. Entry level pools are inflatable and not as high quality as Intex pools that use metal or galvanized steel frames for increased durability and ruggedness. A dirty Intex pool filter cannot be washed, only replaced. Some high end models use a sand filter with a saltwater system. For this type of filter, it only needs to be swapped out every 5 years.
