If you use a temperature that’s way too hot, you could risk damage to your throat and lungs, and you’ll most likely have a shorter high. Research has shown that the higher the temperature, the higher the chance of ingesting dangerous chemicals. Plus, if you heat up your dabs over 400 degrees, you’ll lose a lot of your concentrate’s potency. The average temperature most smokers use to heat up their dabs can range from as low as 900 degrees up to around 1500 degrees! Although these temperatures are quick and convenient, you should actually shoot for lower temperatures, around 300 to 400 degrees. This will give you the most flavor and the smoothest hits.
The nail is heated often using a butane torch but not limited to a propane torch or even a hot air heating gun. Once the product is in the nail, depending on style a carb cap is then put over top of the nail to allow for even product distribution and optimal vapor production. The vapor travels from the nail through the rig and into the users lungs.
