While there are other G9000 Mudman watches with military-themed colors, those models have a reverse LCD display, and we recommend this model for its easier-to-read standard standard LCD display. Other functions like a stopwatch capability and the others are limited to the small digital display at the bottom of the dial. It has many extra features & capabilities (Temp/Barometer/Altimeter, etc.). This is the second Casio watch I ordered for my son who is serving in the military.
Still, the highlight of these models isn’t the long list of features. Instead, it’s the fact that they have a Seconds hand , and their build is more compact. You can get the GA-800-1A around $100, which is still rather modest. The DW series is filled with the cheapest g shock protection watches that you can buy from this collection. Better yet, let’s call it the introductory series to other more advanced timepieces that Casio offers. If you come across an original of this watch, you will find a long lasting, durable item that sustain abuse.
This Tough Solar/Multi-Band 6 model features a simple all-black design with white analog hands for easy viewing. It is the only solar-powered analog model on this list, and like the G100-1BV, it is a smaller-sized analog G-Shock than the GA-100 models. This is a good choice for basic time-telling and maintenance-free operation, but if you plan to use functions like the stopwatch and countdown timer often, you may want to opt for an all-digital model with a larger LCD display.
Another limitation if you want to call it so is the somehow poor backlighting, but again it won’t be a real problem unless you are very picky on this topic. It has a 200-meter water resistance, a cool Tide Graph with 100 preset tide sites and 49 user sites, Moon Data with moon graph, both very useful features for surfing/swimming, and solar fueling ability. Nonetheless, the accuracy is very high with only a +/- 15 seconds deviation per month, easily kept in check by the atomic synchronization function. The G-Shock was conceptualised in 1981 by Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe when he accidentally dropped and broke a pocket watch given to him by his father. The G-Shock was conceived as a watch which would have “triple 10” resistance, meaning it would have a battery life of 10 years, have a water resistance of 10 bar and could survive a fall of 10 metres. The Casio G-Shock watches series has been the company’s champion collection since the time it was launched in 1983.
This is also easier to read in the dark as the light isn’t like a timex indiglo, but a projected led. It lights up the whole face enough to tell the time and even read the date in the digital portion. This is my second G-Shock and I am sure if I can find others as cool looking as this one, I will expand the collection. G-Shock, a brand launched by Casio in the eighties and currently still one of the most popular watch brands which exists, both for women and for men. And then we have not even talked about the extremely cool designs!
