G Shock Watch

By 1998, Casio had released more than 200 different G-Shock models, with worldwide sales at 19 million units. Looks great, good price, goes with everything and I always know what time it is. Just wish the back baby g shock light was cooler and the battery lasted longer. G-Shock by Casio continues to innovate with its recent models, like the Rangeman. Its dual wireless and solar charging systems support being off the grid.

Other than that, most GA-700 models have the same features as the rest of the collection, though in the case of the GA-700UC , a few of the colors used are quite different. The only gripe here is that this line has weak low light capabilities, which is a let-down considering their convenient positioning of the LED light button. Watches.com carries G-shock watches for military personnel as well as the ultra-rare, limited edition G-Shock collaborations that sell out FAST. G-Shock watches are ultra tough, durable watches with an impressive history.

After the square 5600, this is the most recognizable G-Shock look and is a popular choice for police, soldiers and other such professionals around the world. There are a slew of one-offs in the G-Shock digital lineup inspired by the classic 6900 model — some of them common and others which can be hard to get your hands on. Let’s contemplate the following two G-Shocks, just to get a sense of the breadth available. The first is the $380 Mudmaster from the Master of G series, an enormous battle-ready analog/digital hybrid badass with more capability than your smartphone. The second is the $150 Hotei Limited Edition from the 7 Lucky Gods Collection, which appears fey and airy but is, like all G-Shocks, tough as nails. Also, the Hotei sold out in pre-sale, and is inevitably bound for sale on the nerd-forums for multiples of the original price.

Making a watch that fits every taste and necessity is a very, very hard job. Casio is a watch manufacturer that made the G-Shock series of tough watches starting from a dream. The rubberized buttons on each side are very easy to operate and give a general good feel to the watch. A cool thing is that the Mudman features a digital compass for easy guidance in unknown environments and a thermometer which is more or less accurate. Featuring a unique design this watch is ready for everything, especially for cycling.

The first one was a Casio Pro Tek, and I returned it because when the light button was pressed, it was such uneven light-much lighter on one side than the other. I was very, very disappointed to find the same to be true with this watch, as it is a more expensive G-Shock model. Unfortunately, this is a company/multiple product flaw in my opinion.

DW6900MS-1 $ 99.00 The new military inspired series represents some of the very best of the tough and durable designs from the G-Shock ORIGIN and MASTER OF G line-ups. GA800LT-1A $ 99.00 The tri-color theme has black cases with red and blue color accents. G2900F-1V $ 89.95 Ten years is a long time and that’s exactly why we used a battery that lasts just as long. Equipped with E-Data memory and 4 multi-function alarms, you’ll never miss a step.

The watch is water resistant enough and has stood up well to the salt water. I loved this watch so much I bought another for my 15 year old son. Imagine our surprise when his high school basketball g shock protection showed up with one of these on his arm. The casio box that accompanies the watch is one of the best I have ever had. However, because of its rugged looks it doesn’t look bad at all.

The subtle tie-in of color from the dial to the inner strap, along with toned down contrast across the watch make for a understated affair. Building on the digital Power Trainer lineup, these are all about tracking your workouts, whether they’re elaborate interval programs or simply a series of steps. The colorways are intended to make them more wearable with everyday clothes, encouraging you to keep it on and keep fit. With a display like like a 5600 but an overall round case, these lack the big G on the bottom and have a more retro-look to them than, say, the 6900 watches. Your choice of colorways will dictate how loud or subtle the watch is.

For me the biggest advantage of the GW vs DW6900-1V is the “solar” rechargeable battery. It’s why I abandoned quartz watches in the very early 1980’s during my military career, using Hamilton MIL-W-46374B and GG-W-113 watches, alternating periodically between them. I could always sync to a WWV HF signal or a comm center chronometer every few days. When you’re out in some Godforsaken wilderness, desert wasteland or jungle, g shock watch watch battery replacement isn’t feasible. If outside a region covered by one of the LF time signals (e.g. WWVB), it will continue working just fine, with the ability to set the time manually as needed, which shouldn’t be very often. The moderate size makes it much easier to keep under a sleeve when necessary and much less likely to get snagged and caught on equipment, the consequences of which could be injurious.
