The first thing you should know is the type of joint and downstem that’s part of your water pipe bong. Male water pipes require the bowl to be placed onto the joint, whereas the bowl is placed into the joint for female water bongs. Depending on which bong gender you have, you will need to purchase accessories of the gender that is opposite of your water pipe.
