The Carbon

The Mudmaster is as tough as ever, yet so much more wearable, and considerably less visually challenging, then brought sensibly up-to-date with the latest connected technology. The G-Shock Mudmaster watch has always had a true, individual identity, mostly based around its wrist-dominating size. For 2019, Casio adopted a new design for the GG-B100 Mudmaster, using its latest Carbon Core Guard structure, which makes it smaller, lighter, and less imposing. Gone are the button guards, and the overwhelming tank-like appearance, replaced by a relative sleekness that’s at odds with the Mudmaster’s old design. Nearing the end of the conversation I asked him if he still wears the watch to his rides.

I sincerely prefer the mineral glass over the sapphire crystal because of the way it behaves over time but that’s more of a personal opinion. The stainless steel resin case is of incredibly good quality and trust me it can be reliable for lots of years from the moment you buy it. The band material is a good-feeling resin that Casio pretty much used in all G-Shock with some exception, so nothing new here. As the previous model, the G-Steel also features a „hands out of the way” function which will put the hands in a position that will let you see all of the background indicators.

I’m a carpenter so I’ve gone through a lot of watches from the impact of swinging a hammer or the vibration from running a sawzall would vibrate the hands right off most of the competetors watches. The LED could of been a little bit brighter otherwise I’ve been really happy with this watch. After a few drinks, Nathan tells me a story that was hard to believe.

For this reason, the watch is now called “Quad Sensor.” This adds to the existing compass, temperature, and barometer/altimeter sensors the watch also has. Other useful functions include sunrise/sunset times and the normal host of useful G-Shock features. Casio has put more focus on entirely analog or analog-digital watch dials for its fancier watches over the last few years. There are a number of reasons for it, but when it comes down to it, I think Casio is just particularly g shock watch interested in how it can combine the functionality and durability of a G-Shock with the aesthetic appeal of “real” analog dial . Hybrid dials, such as on the GG-B100 which have both analog and digital elements, are a great compromise that Japanese watchmakers have been making since the 1970s and that really hit their stride in the 1980s. The Mudmaster comes with a double LED illuminated dial, which will come in handy for those early mornings and late nights afield.

This means a chronograph function, alarms, countdown timer, stopwatch. The top right button is used for the compass and the bottom right is used for the altimeter. The case features 5 different buttons in order to operate the different functions. To operate this, you unscrew the protection cap and pull it outwards. This will allow you to adjust the standard functions such as the time.

Casio refers to this new concept as its “Carbon Core Guard” case structure. Over the dial is a mineral crystal, and the case is water resistant to 200 meters. Aesthetically, the look of black carbon fiber on most of the case is gorgeous. That’s a tall order, but Casio’s G-SHOCK MUDMASTER GG-B100 watch has been built to meet the challenge of these extreme environments. The key to the G-SHOCK’s incredible performance is its Carbon Core Guard structure. This shock-resistant carbon core guard protects the watch’s vitals to assure proper function regardless of terrain or weather conditions.
