It’s almost silly when you’re sitting around drinking beer, but when the helmet and gloves go on, it looks right at home. I couldn’t find the specs on the crystal, but the bulky bezel does help protect it from the beating of limbs or rocks that might g shock watch meet its surface. The crystal on this watch had a few marks on it signifying its service to the wearer and it wears them like a badge of honor. Its shiny surface looked as though it had been run across a belt sander on more than one occasion.
A typical day might involve suiting up in full firefighting gear and going on a long hike through the mountains, clearing brush to make fire breaks, or simulating a response to a medical emergency. A new bezel structure lets you visually check whether the bezel has been screwed in adequately. It’s not a traditional smartwatch, so it doesn’t show notifications or run apps.
There are also mud resistant buttons, which use a combination of stainless steel and an internal silicone buffer material to ensure no external matter can enter through the watch itself. Forged carbon is therefore perfect for use in a watch designed for extreme sports participants. Casio uses it for the lug that connects the bezel to the band on either side. The G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-2000 is the first in the range to be made with forged carbon – a material more commonly used in aircraft or racing car manufacture. It is tough, with a tensile structure stronger than stainless steel, yet lightweight and malleable. I like the band on the watch but feel the glossy polish metal buckle may scratch and look ratty over time.
CasioThe Mission Log function tracks the altitude measured by the watch and the course obtained from the smartphone’s GPS and automatically records both to an app. The Calorimeter measures altitude and step count to calculate the calories consumed on a long stalk. From construction through features and design, the G-SHOCK GWG-1000 is in every way designed to withstand harsh environments. The Mudmaster runs on the 5594 module — a Bluetooth-connected analog/digital timekeeping device that’s programmable via the G-SHOCK Connected app. The module has a unique “Mission Log” function that combines information from the watch and the GPS in your smartphone to provide a readout of your latest adventure.
The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe’s mantra “never, never give up”. The funny thing about this watch, is that Casio doesn’t advertise the temperature selection on its wheel of functions. In fact, you probably wouldn’t know it even read the temperature if you didn’t read the instructions. The watch has not one, but two batteries, and neither of them are solar. This isn’t out of character for a G-Shock, but the Tough Solar tech does show up in G-Shocks at this price range.
If you are out hiking, there often tends to be informed about the current height, for example on signs or on maps. The triple sensor rating simply means that it can measure pressure , has an altimeter function, compass, and temperature. These are all sensor functions that can be important when performing outdoor activities. The triple sensor function is incorporated into the case via an opening which can be found on the left side of the case, next to the text which indicates so. This is a quartz watch that has both an analog display and an LCD screen.
No, it’ll never match the Apple Watch for fitness tracking prowess, but that’s not the point. It’s sensible, helpful additional functionality on a tough-as-nails G-Shock, that let’s remember, does not need charging. There are alarms and timers, all of which can be set using the app, a world time feature, a phone finder, g shock watch and there are sensors for barometric and temperature readings. For all the toughness of the Mudmaster GG A5, it’s not without a weakness. Contrary to Casio’s website and press information about the watch, the LED backlight isn’t very good. In fact, it’s nothing like Timex’s Indiglo, and very weakly lights the dial.
/PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced the latest addition to the Master of G line of G-SHOCK shock-resistant watches, which are designed for use in the most extreme conditions. The new MUDMASTER GWG-2000 is the first G-SHOCK to be built with forged carbon, which is both lightweight and strong. Designed for defense against disasters, the GWG1000-1A3 and GWG1000-1A9 offer protection from mud, vibration, shock, and other elements. Mud Resistance is made possible through a button guard structure utilizing gaskets within the cylinders and button shafts, as well as a screw lock crown structure that also prevents mud and dust from entering the case. The use of Alpha Gel® at the bottom and sides of the case also provides Vibration Resistance while washers where the band joins the case prevent the lug screws from coming loose. Everyone who sees the Mudmaster remarks first on its size — there’s no getting around that it’s just plain big — but if you try it on you’re just as likely to remark on its comfort.
